Went to the online Tervis site to create a personalized Tumbler for my Mom's Birthday. She has a go-to ice water cup, so thought it would be cute to personalize one for her. It took awhile to create because there are lots of options to choose from, which is nice, and it shows you how it looks on a rotating cup diagram.
Upon checkout I couldn't find a place to enter the promo code I got for a 15% discount. There was a place for a gift card, but not a promo code. I called Customer Service and the representative said it needed to be entered prior to checking out? That seems sneaky to me because you wouldn't want to back track and lose any of the images chosen for your creation. The representative was nice and said I could check out, then the discount would be deducted from the pending total. Since the receipts I looked at don't say my original price, however, I can't confirm if this was actually done.
I got a gift box for $5 extra thinking it would complete the look and paid extra to have it shipped fast. I was a little worried that it wouldn't come in time, because I got a disclaimer email that they were experiencing shipping delays, but ended up getting it a week earlier than expected!
The gift box was not like I expected (see below). I expected something a little more festive, but it looks more like a typical company box that something would be mailed in. I had selected to write a short special Birthday message online (maybe like Amazon does) that was supposed to come with the cup, but it's not there. I also saw that the background pattern was lifting up at the edge (inside the cup, see below) and is not flush. I wondered if this was a defect and was not glued properly?
I called Customer Service again and she confirmed that the box I received was the gift box and that the lifted background was supposed to be like that because if glued down the heat/cold of a beverage would ultimately make it bubble if it was glued down. She said that over time it would settle and flatten a little more. The explanation did make sense to me, but the OCD in me gets bothered by that space!
Overall it is a cute cup if you know what to expect. I would skip the extra cost of the gift box, since you could do something much cuter on your own, and at least every time I contacted Customer Service, I spoke to a nice real person quickly. read more
