We also really like swim lessons here for the wee ones. The fact that the pool facility has so many different features is great! The one downside of course is that this facility can get REALLY busy and full on a regular basis. The fitness centre is good too, though it can be crowded. My kid adores the interactive art in the lobby. Transit is nearby and parking is ample though you may have to walk a fair bit once you've parked in the overflow lot.

There are always good classes going on here. There's a nook on the Northside of the running track with stationery bikes, a pulley machine, and kettle bells so I can do the majority of my workout in this section. They also have a ton of free weights, all the different cardio machines, weight machines, a running track, turf fields, racquet ball courts, basketball courts, and a beautiful pool. Pretty sizable, its weird how half the pools in this city are tiny and the others are gigantic. I mistook the hot tub for a pool at first. Bad vision without my specs. Hot tub wasn't too hot but it might've been the day. Theres 3 pools I think. Kids, lanes and a diving area. This place has a slide and a lot more. In the swimming lanes, someone had an under water radio, which was weird but cool! Couldn't hear it above water, only below. I didn't see a sauna but there is a steam room. Every 40 seconds it was blasting heat into the room pshhh! Pshhh! I found it a bit tricky to find the shower by the steam but its probably just my bad eyes again.

Since it's cheaper than some of the other fitness centres in Edmonton it might be a good choice for that but for me I preferred the Terwillegar or Peter Hemingway facilities. Changing rooms were fine, a bit dated. Staff seemed fine and the place was more relaxed than others. It's apparently closed for upgrades right now so I'm sure it will be a nice place to go to once that is finished.

Came to the Castle Downs Spray Park today as part of my Yelp quest to find the best of the best…read morespray and splash parks in and around Edmonton. Castle Downs comes in at a strong 4 out of 5 stars. Today was a jam packed Sunday afternoon with so very many options including multiple playgrounds, giant gazebo, skatepark, 2 food trucks - ice cream and a Poutine/burger/fry truck, and the city of Edmonton Green Shack peeps. The Spray park had several zones including a musical piano, spray cannons, and loops of water you can run through. PROS Multiple water and playground zones -something for everyone Washrooms Food trucks Green shacks Huge grass fields/hills surrounding park Ample parking lot City of Edmonton Staff Rubber ground for majority of spray park and playground Lots of swings CONS Too big! So big that it was easy to lose track of my toddler even while playing with him on the playground and in the spray park Zones are not fenced in so if you lose track of your child, they could go missing quickly or wander to the parking lot/road. Close proximity of townhomes attached to the backing grass, again not fenced off, would also make it easy for a child to wander to a residential area. Some people may be thinking, hey watch you kid(s) and yes BUT if you are here with several children (especially toddlers) we all know how fast one can run off while attending to another child. The water cannons shoot water hard enough to nearly knock my toddler off his feet - good for BIG kids but not so great for my toddler and kindergartner Lack of shade - lots of people set their chairs up against the washroom building to try and find shade Very few benches/picnic tables In summary, Castle Downs park has loads of amenities and lots of space but so much so that it felt overwhelming at times and difficult to keep track of little ones. If you have a big kid that doesn't require sight and sound supervision, this may be the park for you! But if you're like me with a toddler and little kid, this park was a little too much for us coupled with a lack of shade or fenced in areas resulting in a solid 4 out of 5 stars. PS - If you are planning on coming here with little ones under 5 - I'd recommend a 1:1 ratio of supervision to toddlers :-)

I've used this storage centre for the best part of a year and I have no complaints. The ladies at…read morethe front desk are very helpful, always remember me and have a wee doggy that sits in the office with them. The front desk have started handing out bottled water to customers which is a nice touch. Especially on a hot day when you've been lugging boxes about the place. There is free parking, you just need to sign your plate in. They have a drive up docking bay, if you have a lot of heavy items, and they have loads of trolleys to use for maneuvering your gear about the building. It's a big space and a bit of a maze, I get lost every time but there are signs on each corner to point you in the right direction. One of the elevators, fits two people and one trolley but they also have a big freight elevator for larger stuff. They do sell packing materials and have a rate sheet at the front to pick up too. The parking was plenty and free but beware, if you leave the premises you will be ticketed. The staff behind the front counter were super nice and of course, the fact that they had a dog on site melted my heart. They sold all the typical packing, moving supplies, etc. When I came in, I had to wait behind a couple customers who were already being helped. Each customer received the full attention of the attendant and each were treated with kindness and each seemed happy with their business here which has definitely not always been the norm when I've been at a rental storage place in the past. So while, I can't review the product per se, I will say the customer service & atmosphere was definitely as good as it gets! And it doesn't hurt that the building is cute and in an industrial part of town. Wait, did I just call a building cute? Yeah, I did ;-) There's just something about the old charm right downtown and the dog, of course!

I mainly went for the pool today. The change room had those lockers that you punch in a 4 digit code and it saves it and locks it for you. Just remember the code and your locker number. They have the typical 25 meter pool and a kid pool with water jets and beach entry. I seen something called a 'lazy river' which looked like a sort of maze you could meander through, which was kind of interesting. I think these are all salt water. I believe I seen another pool as well that looked shallow, but deeper then the kid pool. Theres a hot tub thats actually pretty large. I seen a steam room but it was closed. Additionally I seen a water slide, as well as 3 tiers of diving boards. Its not too shabby for catching a swim but it would be nice if they had a sauna.

So I and my family…read morehave been shopping for a great place to park our summer toys, and one name that kept popping up was Jimmy's RV Storage. So fun fact, there is no Jimmy working there, but it's actually a legacy name for the late father who once owned this RV Parking. We had some things that needed to be checked in order to find the right RV storage place. 1. It had to be close to Edmonton - Why drive an hour in the opposite direction from where you are going to go 2. It had to have easy access - Driving back roads in the dark on farmland isn't fun, only to find out the place is closed 3. It has to have solid security - I paid good money for my stuff, and I'd like to keep it in good condition 4. Price has to be reasonable - No point paying big bucks for something you only use for a limited time. 5. Staff on site for help and security. 6. Lots that are actually nice and graded After shopping around, Jimmy's RV was the best choice for us. It's just off of yellow head highway, so when we are coming back to town, it's just one quick turn-off. They have staff during working hours, which monitor security, answer questions, and can provide help and supplies. After hours, there is staff close by and you have Card Access and 2 Gates to pass through. The Security here is over the top, with over a dozen high-resolution cameras covering the storage area. Last time I stopped by it looked like they were putting in high-powered lighting as well, not sure when that will be completed (I don't think any other lot would have this). The lot itself is well managed, and graded, so going in and out no matter the season is great. Part of the reason I'm sharing all of this, is I am constantly blown away by the team that works here. Recently when I went to get my RV out, the engine wouldn't turn, and I had a flat. The team on site helped in every way they could including helping me boost my engine, inflating my tire, and providing help to the closest location to where I can get both checked out. I think this type of kindness and service deserves attention. :)
