I really reserve the fifth star just for ice cream places with their own, bomb-diggity homemade ice cream. But Trolley is not that kind of place - it's a simple place. The kind of place with a down home vibe that is increasingly hard to find these days. I ordered a small ice cream in a cone and was amazed at the size. I had three different flavors stacked high, and they even had my favorite flavor (coconut) which isn't always available.

There weren't many people when i went, so i was served quickly, but i'm not sure how that would change with more people there. There was seating available under the awning as well as in the sun, so it's an enjoyable summer experience. The portions are generous; i got a medium cone & you can see it was actually pretty large!

So many choices too, I did not ask if they make them there or not but my guess is they do. Portions are epic. We asked for medium sizes, and by comparison to other places they would be considered large or extra large. There is plenty of parking, and table/chairs to sit and enjoy the ice cream. The local area offers antique shops, fresh seafood nearby, and a Dutch/Amish market.

I really can't tolerate places like Dairy Queen or Friendlys who don't know the difference between a small and a large cone. I've had experiences where I paid for a large and got a small, but not at Flippers. The best of all, that soft serve is always churning. These ice cream machines are never broken. They are making ice cream with real cream. Not the fake stuff that the fast food and major franchises like Ritas use. This is a cash only establishment. We ordered a couple hours ahead of time through the website and our food was ready when we got there which was great. 3 chopped cheese sandwiches and sides of cheese fries. First problem...if there was any cheese at all in the sandwiches, you absolutely couldn't tell. There was plenty of meat, just trace amounts of cheese at best. Couldn't even taste it. So that was disappointing for a sandwich that relies heavily on having good cheese distribution. So essentially they were just chopped steak sandwiches. Kinda dry/kinda boring. The cheese fries were way too salty...cheesy and good texture but very heavy handed on the salt. My wife couldn't even eat hers. So for nearly $20 platters they were a let down. It might have been a one off since I heard they were down a chef, so I'll try again sometime.
