Your basic college visit on one of these special days is lots of talk saying how the school is so great, a few tours and then some unstructured time where you can ask questions. The main presentation was short and sweet. It covered the important points without overdoing it. We all had a good laugh when the PowerPoint presentation stopped and there were technical difficulties with the equipment. We had a vivacious and very talkative tour guide who covered lots of the basic questions and gave my son some good insights. All in all it was a good experience. One star for the dumb ass who asked how much tuition cost. Um you look that up BEFORE you visit the college!

Next week it will be 29 years since I graduated from DePauw, and this was only the second time I've…read morebeen back since then. A lot has changed, and yet some things are exactly as they were from 1986-1990. A few things I noted: * Some of the fraternities from the 80's haven't survived (my own included), as well as a few of the sororities. When I attended, DePauw was about 75% Greek, and although that percentage may be a bit lower now, the school is still has a way above-average percentage of students who are affiliated with a fraternity or sorority. Something to keep in mind if you're considering attending DePauw. * The old Marvin's is no more, but the new location still has the GCB's that I ate constantly. I was actually more partial to the Marvin's burritos. * The "downtown" scene (such that it is) is much more developed and high-profile than it was in the 80's. We rarely had a need to go downtown for anything except a haircut back in the late 80's, but now there are restaurants, shops and lots of other things to see. If I make it to the 60th anniversary of my graduation, I promise I'll visit again and write another review.

There…read moreis every kind of shooting opportunity there including multiple center fire rifle and pistol ranges from distances of 8 yards, 15 yards, 25 yards, 50 yards, 100 yards, 200 yards, 300 yards and even 400 yards. They have ranges for .22 rimfire rifle and pistol, metal plates for all calibers, a steel challenge course, a shotgun field and ranges for full auto. The range is located in a wooden area with valleys and streams and is aesthetically quite beautiful. I highly recommend it to anyone. Prices are fair with different levels of membership based on how many ranges one wants to access. The 400 yard range is a step up as is the steel challenge course.
