Classic apple picking at its finest! The simplicity of this orchard had the greatest appeal for us and it didn't disappoint. It was very easy to stay socially distant, both guests and employees did wear masks. We got 3 different kinds of apples, plenty to pick from in each variety. Our toddler loved the tractor ride, and spacious rows to run. The prices were very reasonable and the staff provided wonderful service. While this was our first visit it will not be our last! Highly recommend!!

Mike Dittmar was incredibly kind and talked to us about the history of the farm. We found out they have this neat Airbnb on property and can't wait to book next year. One piece of advice- I seriously almost didn't buy the donuts because I'd eaten so many apples while picking and I'm glad I decided to because they are insanely delicious!!

It's a rip-off because they take ur money and send you to get pumpkins that aren't there, and to a small apple area with bad apples. I get dry weather hurt but then Do Not pretend it didn't and take the money! Go elsewhere. Response to owner: Correction - I should hv said no pickable apples... All we wanted to do was PICK apples and pumpkins - lady owner should not hv taken our money if admission was not needed for that. I am 100% correct to report that lady owner sent us to an empty pumpkin patch where there were NO pumpkins to pick. None. I am 100% correct play equipment is in disrepair and worn out. Spin it as you will but overall a disappointing experience - owners can't even agree on what admission covers.

You get the sliced apples in the salads and the bottles of apple bourbon up front. The hot tea is no charge, but the iced tea is not. Both appear to be Lipton. I got an Arnold Palmer, which was quite good. They didn't mix it so it had a toquilla sunrise feel. The appetizers really stood out. The animal fries were not your squirt cheese in n out style. These were thick cut steak fries, with Wisconsin melted cheese and ground beef, topped with thousand island like aioli. The other wunder starter was the hot pretzel. Thick with kosher salt applied to buttered crust, it's served on a charcuterie board with cheese knife. Perfect for cutting bite sized peices fresh before you dip. Cheese sauce and stone ground mustard. Burgers were good. Sit down restaurant style, thick and perfectly grilled to order. A little gooey but the buns soaked up the juices. Salads come with standard fancy greens, topped with thinly sliced apples, with whole pecans. The vinegrett was decent. Soup that day was country vegetable. We passed at fire because it sounds very Campbell soup from a can. A couple minutes later she came out and said chef made her taste it, so she could adequately rave about it. Turned out to be rave worthy. Not stewed to death, hearty crispy and nutritious

The Caesar salad was excellent with super crisp romaine and a fresh house made dressing. I wished that the plate was bigger, as it was loaded very high and hard to not spill. The Margarita flatbread was ok, nothing special. My dining mate tried the Fried Cheese Curd app and a Smashburger with fries for his main. The curds were deliciously crunchy and gooey. Some of the best curds in the area. His Smashburger was good, but the fries were outstanding. We also tried hot cider, since cider is Orchard's claim to fame. The cider was excellent, although a bit pricey at $6.00 a cup. We splurged on some mini-donuts for dessert, but they were just ok. The vibe of Orchard is open and inviting. Our server was excellent, no complaints.

Our cottage had a very nice porch that we spent a good portion of the weekend relaxing on. The cottage also had a nice fireplace we took advantage of. The meals in particular were a highlight and exceeded expectations. The breakfasts served in our cottage were utterly phenomenal. Every morning was a delight. Each stay, they cook one dinner for guests. That meal also stood out to us as special. It held its own against many of the fine dining restaurants in Chicago. The surprise cookies we got each afternoon were such a nice touch. They were also so very friendly and we felt so welcome there. There was a positive energy that there that was very contagious.

The food.... have mercy. It's amazing. And plentiful! I can't believe how much I feasted. There's no way you're going to find food this good at any restaurant in Galena. Don't be silly and book a hotel and make dinner reservations elsewhere. Do as I say and just stay here. I never saw humans while I was here. A text or two a day, but other than that it was solitude. Like we were the only people on the property. When we arrived, our key was in a gift bag with cookies and a flashlight. Plus a note with some instructions. Breakfast and dinner magically delivered to our door. Maybe by fairies since no one was there when I'd haul it into the room. Place your dirty dishes and tray in the same spot and they disappear again. It was amazingly refreshing to not have to deal with other humans. Magical Want a gift from the general store? There was plenty of parking out front when I arrived on Monday probably around 10 AM/10:30 AM. There was a small cashier station out front. A lady was short brown hair was explaining how the process works and that you would buy a choice of two different size bags. I chose a smaller bag for $22. I was shown the map and I took a picture of it and headed out to the Orchards. Everything is clearly marked and the paths are also well marked however, if you have any mobility challenges, this might be an issue for you. I don't know if there's any tractors that travel out there. There are wagons for younger kids, etc. I went all the way out past the final orchard to the Honeycrisp. I was surprised to see quite a bit of apple still on the tree. Please follow the directions on how to pick them because you do not want to damage the trees. I got a bunch of varieties which all tasted delicious. I then walked through the little store behind the initial cash register. They have already pre-picked apples, frozen cider donuts, and fresh cider for sale. On the day I arrived. They were already sold out of the fresh cider donuts and they were on their way, but I was already departing the location. Before I left, however, I opted to do the you pick raspberries and cherry tomatoes, which was fun although a bit arduous for the raspberries. Everything actually tasted delicious. I would definitely come back for other activities and of course, supporting local farm. I think this is really good for all ages, etc.. I did see a mix of families and young adults on this visit. Be advised of the closing times I believe it closed at 1 PM on Monday. It was just a fun experience.
