Which is great for most, if you still like using cash for small purchases you should be aware. Parking lot wraps around the hotel and lights were off in the lot when we arrived at night and before sunrise so we were thankful for the thaw. Prices vary dramatically depending on whether you stay in regular or wellness rooms. I wonder if the wellness rooms are cleaner and more comfortable aside from the hypoallergenic treatment and an air filter. If you prepay for the breakfast and have an early day then you might want to reconsider. The breakfast starts at 0630. Rooms are not sound proof so be prepared to hear the noisy guests transiting the hallways and loud cars.

A friend was in from out of town, I was in charge of booking their room. During my research, I came across this hotel which stated it has recently been renovated. Decent price, $154 for King. A $50 hold is on your card for incidentals until check out. Pretty, modern lobby. Clean! Clean, modern room. The bed was the best part! My friend said they couldn't get out of bed the next day, due to how great they slept. Location is meh. You can see the hotel off the highway, quite a few turns to get there. No fault of the hotel. Pool and workout room are the amenities. Breakfast is included, eggs, pancakes, french toast, cereal, coffee, etc. Not a bad deal at all.

I had a long hiatus of reviews due to a # of factors. One factor was the apartment fire on 8/5…read more The next several reviews I plan on writing center around the Fire era from early August to early September. This caused a change in course of events from August-October. On the evening of Sunday, 8/6, we were told to plan for 2 nights in a hotel, and that the apartment would reimburse for up to $200/night. I decided to stay close to my office. So, I chose the Homewood Suites in Columbia convenient off 95 and MD-175. The hotel was very nice; I had a beautiful suite with two separate rooms facing the tennis court. On Monday, 8/7 I had a very easy commute to my office in Halethorpe. I had work travel to Largo that afternoon, but it still wasn't too horrible getting back to Columbia. That night I went to Old Navy/Target in Columbia to get a 2nd set of clothes for Tuesday (since I wasn't driving to VA [where I was living] to get that) and had Mission BBQ for dinner, which I plan on writing a review for. Unfortunately, the weather on that Monday was rainy & cool. So, it was bad timing to take advantage of the pool although as I recall I didn't think to take a swimsuit. The other thing I was not aware of was that there is a free happy hour on Monday-Thursday 5-7 PM at all Homewood Suites. Sometimes it's just snack foods, and sometimes it's a full meal; so perhaps, I could've gotten that instead of Mission BBQ. Tuesday morning, 8/8 I checked out of the hotel, but the story with this hotel doesn't end there. That afternoon I had work travel to DC & Arlington. Arlington work had put me close to home in Arlington near Bailey's Crossroads. I was ready to get my life back on track, but the electricity was still out. I asked the apartment manager, and she said to plan for one more night at a hotel. I was slightly annoyed, but I went with this Homewood Suites again. I hung out in Bailey's Crossroads to let the traffic die down some before I made my trek back closer to my office. Therefore, I missed the happy hour again (It runs 5-7 PM) as I arrived at about 8 PM. This time the room I got was a different style and while big was technically a lower tier room than the one I had, which was a disappointment, and it was about the same price since weekday rates are higher. It was still a nice room, but the bed was queen instead of king. The shower wasn't as fancy, not two rooms, etc. Since I had gone home that afternoon, I was able to pick up a swimsuit. I was able to take advantage of the pool, but the water was very chilly. It wasn't really good pool weather as temperatures were below average for August. The temp at 8:30 was only 69 F. I did enjoy the hot tub though. It got a little crowded with a couple of kids who splashed a bit in the hot tub, but the parents were keeping them under control. I met a guy in there (would've been better if I had met a girl), but I'll take whatever company I could get. He was in town for work for 2 weeks and from my hometown, Phoenix, along with several other people. So, we had more to talk about. I went back to the room, which faced the pool, which seemed nice at first. That same group from Phoenix was drinking & making a lot of noise, which was a little annoying, but they eventually settled by the time I was ready for bed. Wednesday morning, I checked out of the room. Unfortunately, I found out from the apartment to plan for hotel stay until Friday, 8/11. However, the rates were going up beyond the $200/night limit. So, I went with a different hotel.

The bed was comfortable, the heater (winter time stay) worked well, and check-in was smooth with friendly staff who handled my check-in smoothly. Now, I did get there late at night so there was no waiting. One big plus I will comment on is the free breakfast, which was convenient and a nice way to start the day without having to leave the hotel. The location is also a strong point, as it's within close proximity to the mall and the casino, which makes it easy to walk or take a quick drive. I didn't use the free shuttle service but it is available. Overall, this is a reliable hotel that delivers what you expect. Comfortable, convenient, and good value.

It turned out amazing though because the hotel has a pool, and my family had it all to themselves. They had an absolute blast. Secondly, there is a free laundry room which was great because we had only pajamas, and I anted to get our clothes clean before another whole day of travel. Thirdly, the breakfast is really above and beyond. Last but most important: The service was 15 out of 10. Diamond was stellar, kind, generous, and such a hard worker. I haven't had such excellent service in a long time.

May 9-10, 2025…read more This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had. When I checked into my room, I was greeted with used toiletries left on the sink, no soap, and no bath mat--just an empty spot where a towel should've been. The light switches near the entrance didn't work, so I had to stumble in the dark to find the bathroom light in the middle of the room. The room had cracked outlets and damaged walls, making the entire place feel unsafe and neglected. The worst part? Bedbugs. I have photo proof, which I showed to both the Southwest representative who booked the hotel and the night clerk on duty around midnight on May 10 (a young Black woman who was courteous and yet not very helpful despite the situation as she never told her manager, nor did the young man the next morning). I was moved to another room that had blood stains on the pillow in the shape of bedbugs--an absolutely sickening experience. To make matters worse, management refuses to return my calls or those of Southwest. There's been zero accountability. The breakfast the next morning was inedible, with food and coffee all over the floor. Clearly, cleanliness and guest care are not priorities here. I will be filing a formal complaint with the Better Business Bureau, and I strongly advise anyone considering a stay here to look elsewhere. This location should not be operating in its current condition.

NOTE: This hotel sits right next to Route 95 in the Jessup/Elkridge area. But to actually get here, you will be going through a residential area with several turns in both directions. Listen to your GPS, they will guide you here! My reservation was made for a King Suite Accessible room as I need the provided bars in the bathroom and shower for assistance and safety. The bathroom had a low entry tub and along with the installed bars, it worked for me. The room was comfortable and clean. And huge! Upon walking in, there is a living room sort of area with sofa, coffee table, desk/chair and TV. Then you walk into the area where the bathroom/tub is on one side and a sink vanity on the other side. Through another door is the bedroom area which also has a TV and padded bench for luggage or seating. There is also a closet in this room with a full length door mirror. I was on the second floor, there is an ice machine room next to the elevators, you need your room key card for entry. Shower pressure was great, water was hot enough. I slept very well. Breakfast offerings were the standard fare of various cereals, yogurt, two waffle machines and sausage and those hotel eggs. Also, bread and bagels for toasting and some packaged mini muffins. There is an indoor pool and exercise room but I did not have time to check those amenities out. DISCLAIMER: No, this is not a five-star or even a four-star hotel. But for the price, location and the fact that it met my needs, I have rated as I have.

The highlight of our trip!…read more A few things I must point out, the Yelp description for The Wayside Inn is now under new ownership. Susan & David are no longer the propitiators. I met the owner, an unassuming man in the kitchen and shook his hand when I left. Joe is the manager and greeted us when we arrived on Saturday. I told him we have dinner and concert plans and would be back late. He gave us a through tour on how to use the fancy coffee maker, how to use the jacuzzi tub (we didn't us it) as well as the robes. What struck me the most was the branding. The robes as well as the beautiful coffee mugs all had a wonderful logo. Once we took our belongings out and settled into the room, we decided to enjoy the outdoors. My wife grabbed a beautiful blanket and we went outside on the roof deck. We're just taking it all in, I had a bottle of Napa Valley wine I brought from home for us to enjoy, it was really picture perfect. The actual inn is over 200 years old, one of the historic homes in Maryland now made for my enjoyment. Did General Washington sleep here? Inquiring minds want to know! The staircase was truly a sight to see. Made from wood, they crafted these beautiful wooden turns to the upstairs. Creaky wood? Sure. It gives the inn a comfortable charm. Our bedroom had a magnificent sleigh bed and the sheets? Joe was explaining to my wife the thread count. I'm a guy, I was tuning it all out, haha! After a comfortable night sleep, I woke up early. I'm an early riser, I made myself a great cup of coffee and went downstairs to read my book. The sitting area with it's beautiful furnishings, it's a welcoming room. Everything is meticulously cared for, it was a pleasure to have this moment alone and take it all in. After an hour, I went upstairs and took a shower. We have 8:30am breakfast reservations, I want to get on the road to beat the traffic. We were served a French toast bake, absolutely divine. When staying at any B&B, the shower products as well as the food should be top notch. Staying at the local Marriott doesn't give you the same experience. After breakfast my wife made us Dove Hot Chocolates as we packed up. I highly recommend The Wayside Inn. From the quaint accommodations to the fab breakfast, I thank you making our stay special.

The multi-functional modular furniture makes keeping my stuff organized so easy! Sad to say I've become a little bit of a travel snob, and I value having plenty of space to put things away and not live out of the suitcase.
