I received a gift certificate for my birthday and my sisters wanted to surprise me with a massage and sent me there with an appointment. Only to find out the only thing they had available was a mani-pedi so I used my GC for that and saved the rest for a massage at a later date. It was $80 for a mani-pedi and additional $15 for gel (mani) and $10 for French tips (pedi). They do not do acrylic. So this alone was crazy expensive to polish my real nails. Less than 4 hours later the top layer of my gel nails peeled off and 2 of my nails' gel came completely off. I called the next day and told Rachel what happened and she told me to come in so she could fix it but I couldn't come right away and she was booked, so I had to celebrate my birthday with incomplete polish on my nails. I haven't heard back from her and this was just on Friday (2/07). I don't know if I want to get my massage there but I hate to see my sisters' $200 go to waste especially since I already wasted $105 on a mani-pedi. read more

My experience was kind of disappointing. I went to a spa called Terra Spa about 10 or more years ago, but it was located downtown near Breckinridge Park, and for many years, I've always regarded it as the best massage I've ever had (even over the amazing massages I've had in Tahiti and Maui). So thinking this was the same establishment, and that they just moved locations, I decided to call and make an appointment after all those years of reminiscing that great massage I had. I searched their website for any specials and came across a Valentines Special which was 15% off. I called the Spa to inquire about how the deal worked, since it required me to put a certain amount of money down, and made an appointment for a 60 minute Swedish Massage ($65) and my first ever Microdermabrasion Facial ($85). I spoke with Kelly. Man, is she great at customer service! They were receiving a bunch of phone calls back to back, while I was booking my appointment with her, and she called me back to make sure all my concerns were addressed, since it was my first Microdermabrasion Facial! I was so touched by that! However...How would you feel if you got to the massage spa and the masseuse asked you, "Are you here for the prenatal massage?" Unfortunately, that's the greeting I received when I arrived. That same woman happened to be my massage therapist. Her name was Emily. She seemed inexperienced because another lady had to tell her to ask me if I had to use the restroom first before my massage. Then she asked me if I had any problem areas, or areas I'd like her to focus on. It was clear that she had not read my form that I filled online that specifically stated the areas I'd like her to focus on and avoid. So I told her that although it wasn't an injury, my neck had felt strained and I wanted her to focus on that area and my upper back more. But then she once she started to massage me, it was clear that she was either inexperienced, afraid of hurting me, tired, or trying to kill time. The first 15/20 minutes was not really a massage. She was just gliding her hands across my skin with zero rubbing or pressure. So I communicated with Emily and told her that she could apply more pressure and reassured her that she wouldn't hurt me. She responding by basically saying she was going to apply more pressure a little later, and that that's just the way she starts. I wish she would have adjusted her method to my needs and requests. She never ended up giving special attention to my neck and upper back. I thought she would spend more time on them, like I asked, but she didn't. She put the most pressure on my arms, of all places. She did ask if she did a good job working out the knots in my neck at the end, but I didn't want to tell her that it was probably the worst massage I've ever had, and that I wished I could get my money back. Plus she chitchatted a little too much. I did like how she complimented me on my hair though. However, if I were to book another massage, I would make sure not to get her again. Diane gave me my Microdermabrasion Facial. I thought she did a phenomenal, stellar job! She was super informative, since I had no idea what to expect. She then addressed my concerns, which was hyperpigmentation, and put extra focus on my dark marks. Then she increased the machine according to my comfort level. It felt so relaxing that I kept dozing off, which was the tranquil experience I had been hoping for. I would definitely go back to her. Without a doubt, she has skills, and I didn't have a communicative disconnect, like I did with Emily. As I drove home, the pregnancy remark really began to chip away at me. So I called the spa back not to get Emily in trouble, but just to draw awareness to how that made me feel, and to how it could make someone else feel if she were to make the same mistake again. Kelly was so understanding and so kind to me about it. She assured me that I didn't look pregnant, and that Emily just got confused about the schedule. I REALLY LIKE KELLY! In my opinion, she should run the place! I know she probably has someone else to answer to, and can probably offer dissatisfied customers only so much of a discount, but she offered me 10% off my next appointment. That's nice and all, but, what if I didn't want to come back? Then when I thought about it, that's only $6.50 off my next massage for basically assuming I was pregnant. I believe Kelly when she said it wasn't done maliciously, but that's a mistake you don't make. That massage should have been free. Overall, the place was fairly clean, I liked the Tuscany decor, and I appreciated that the staff was racially diverse. The sheets were clean and the rooms were private. Emily needs to have more practice, perhaps at a discounted rate. I may go back for a massage, just not with her. I would definitely go back for a facial. Diane was incredible, and Kelly was on another level of excellence. read more

I just floated out of Terra Spa which I think should be renamed "Heavenly Spa." Kelly was phenomenal with facial/neck message. she zeroed in on what my skin needed and gave careful attention to tight muscles. I did a customized one hair facial, that is truly the definition of self care. Kelly's hands are amazing, and her skin care knowledge and advice always amaze me. I see my appointments with Kelly as a necessity, not just a pampering session. I also recommend getting a brow tint and lash tint, Kelly is a perfectionist in that area as well. Georgia was my massage therapist and she was amazing! I received a 90 minute massage that was both relaxing and problem focused. She tackled all of the areas I asked and at the pressure I asked for. She was thoughtful in her massage flow which made the massage even better than I have received before by other massage therapists. Also, unlike other massage therapists she did not overwhelm me by talking a bunch. She was very professional and thoughtful! I walked out of that massage feeling AMAZING! I came here the day before Mother's Day. I actually had a spaweek.com gift card with $50 to use so I made an appointment for the Deluxe Spa Pedi. I made my appointment the day before. I was pleasantly surprised that they still had an opening so close to Mother's Day. I'm sure I got very lucky. Anyway, the staff is very friendly. It began at the door when I entered. The young lady was finishing with another customer, but acknowledged me and let me know she'd be right with me. Job well done. I was offered coffee, water, or tea as waited and filled out a short form before my services. I was was then greeted by Genevieve my pedicure technician. She was really professional and personable. She did a very thorough job on my feet letting me know what she was doing as she proceeded. I felt very relaxed compared to when you go to other nail salons. They look and make you feel like they are doing a good job with all the rough scrubbing and picking and rubbing only for you to realize your feet are rougher than when you walked in. Genevieve did a great job. I'm really impressed with the sanitary process. The foot basin was covered in a plastic liner. The metal tools looked as though they were new and/or disinfected properly. And, the items that were for one time use were wrapped and given to me to take home. No more around the way nail salons for me, I'll pay the $45 for a quality nail service. I wanted to love this place, but I do not. My massage therapist offered to stay 30 minutes after close so I could have the 90 minute massage. However, it was an entirely unpleasant experience. First, she talked the entire time. Not at all relaxing. Second, the pressure. She dug so hard into me, I was physically and audibly in pain. I assumed it was the "no pain, no gain" philosophy and that she knew what she was doing and I'd feel relief afterward. I did feel slightly loosened up, but only for about an hour. The day after, the bruises showed up. I was in pain for the next three days, unable to even sleep or sit on my back. I'm incredibly disappointed, as all the staff seemed incredibly nice and accommodating, establishment was clean, pricing was reasonable. But based purely on the massage experience itself, I cannot recommend going here. read more

Incredible service! The online booking is very convenient. I was able to make an appointment for 3 services, on the same day. The staff was professional and very pleasant and knowledgeable. I learned something new during each service. Dawn did a fantastic job on my mani/pedi. She gave me my first gel manicure. Ethinia gave a thorough massage. She worked out kinks in my back that had been there for months. Kelly is a very good esthetician and gave me great information. The facility was very clean and relaxing. I typically spend an entire day at the spa because the staff are great! Both Rene and Georgia are the best massage therapist ever. Each with their own technique and tending to my needs of that day. I just had the Thai massage from Georgia today and wow! I have never been so limber and relaxed. Definitely making this a regular treatment alternating with Renee's awesome sports massages. I start my treatments with an inch loss body wrap, hydrofacial, derriere & breast facial from Kelly---she is awesome,gentle,and explains the entire process as she goes; she sets a very relaxed and meditative atmosphere. I have been blessed by meeting Renne at Terra Spa. She is the best massage therapist I have ever had the pleasure of seeing. The results are phenomenal and I just can't say enough about her. She has told me about some supplements that have helped me so much as well. I told my cousin about some other supplements who has bone/blood cancer and it has helped his pain when nothing else could. Beware of using a Relax Package gift certificate purchased on Terra Spa's website, you will NOT get the 2 hours of service as advertised. After I realized my experience was less than 2 hours, I called. I was told the inhouse brochures said 1 hr 35 min. When I asked about the discrepancy between the website, where my certificate was purchased, and the inhouse brochure, I was told she knew nothing about the website. And, she would let the Owner know. I've attached a photo taken of Terra Spa's website showing how much time is advertised for the Relax Package. I, personally, see this as a deceptive trade practice/bait and switch. One star because that's the lowest possible option. First of all, I'm from out of town, visiting my best friend in SA for her birthday. As a surprise I wanted to book us a spa day, and her husband recommended this place (accidentally, actually). Unbeknown to me, this place has three different locations. The first problem was that I booked our appointments at one location, thinking I was actually speaking to another (my fault). We didn't actually find this out until we tried showing up to the location where I thought I had our appointment and they were closed (I should have seen this as a sign). After checking my call log we got in touch with the correct location, which was 30 minutes away, and told them what happened. Given the time it would have taken us to get there they wouldn't have been able to complete the services I had booked for the two of us... which was their "purity package" - a 50 min massage and a 50 min facial. I had to fly out late the next day so after a back and forth of a couple phone calls we finally were set to with new appointments the next day at 1pm. The next day: My friend and I show up on time... no one is at the front desk. We fill out our forms while waiting for someone. Finally when someone appears, with a blanket or snuggie or something wrapped around her, she asks if she could help us. I mean, if you're cold, dress warmer... but don't come out looking like you were just lounging and watching a movie in the back. Anyway, when I tell her we were there for our 1pm appointment, she tells us that we are actually scheduled for 2pm! Whoa, excuse me, no we're not... your massage therapist called me and specifically said "you guys can come in at 1pm tomorrow, I will already be here b/c I have a massage before that at 12pm". After more back and forth, they figure it out and can start us just before 1:30pm. My friend was getting her facial while I got my massage, and then the technicians (if that's what you want to call them) would switch. The "massage therapist" asked what I did for a living, I said I was a bartender, so I probably have a lot of upper back tension. She said "okay, so we'll stick to your back", and I said "well I'm standing on my feet all the time, so my legs get tight too"... I guess she didn't hear that because spent about ONE MINUTE on both legs total... about the same amount of time on my arms... and the rest on my back... Which I wouldn't have minded so much, except instead of a massage it felt more like a rub down. I like firm pressure and I told her so, but I felt like someone was just rubbing sunscreen on my back the whole time. The facial was even worse. The girl opens the door and says "wow it's dark in here"... well yea, I was just having a massage! She's carrying in what looks like a tv-dinner type tray with bowls and bottles on it. She does not turn up the lights. Doesn't bother to look at my skin, ask me what type of skin I have, NOTHING. But does ask me if I want a head band, and hands me something looking like it was purchased at the walmart next door in the beauty isle (NOT a professional headband). Not until she starts applying products to my face does she ask me if I'm allergic to pineapple or coconut... thankfully I'm not. So she moves along through the process and does not explain a single thing she's doing to my face. After exfoliating (which felt like a manicure brush) the "mask" she starts applying feels like it's burning. I can smell that this is the pineapple. I tell her it's stinging, and she tells me to let her if it gets worse, because she'll put on the chocolate mud mask instead. Why didn't I have that option to begin with???? Finally she takes if off and applies the other mask. While the mask is on she massages my neck and shoulders, which I mention because it was better than the massage I received from the actual massage therapist. PS - I do not have sensitive skin, however, my friend does and told this to the tech... my friend had the same experience with the mask, but did not speak up because this was her first facial ever and thought that is what's supposed to happen :( . WHY WOULD YOU APPLY SOMETHING ACIDIC AFTER EXFOLIATING???? It's like salt on a wound!!!!!!!!!! The entire 2hrs I was laying in this room I was thinking about: 1) if these people actually are licensed, 2) how I can't wait to tell this all to my boyfriend, who is a massage therapist, 3) booking an appointment for the following day at my preferred spa back home. Also, when I went to check out, the packages were advertised at $90 a piece... the woman tried charging me $200 for both packages total, until I told her that the prices are advertised at $90, which would bring the total to $180. She said that the prices have changed but the online flyer must not have been updated. Reason I was given was not having personal for the couples massage at the time I had scheduled. I was offered a 6pm/sunday reschedule time. Unfortunately I had the day already planned out and would have had to cancel dinner reservations. Not easy to find a couples massage session in such short notice, So That I could have kept my Saturday on line. Celebrating my wife's birthday. I went into Terra Spa Rolling Oaks for a Swedish massage with a foot exfoliation. I waited just a few minutes before Marian came to greet me. Marianne did a great job loosening up the knots and kinks in my neck/shoulder area. The pressure was just right. The soothing music knocked me out for a few minutes. I took my daughter in to get her eyebrows waxed by Vanessa on a Friday which we have done in the past. When we left my daughter said this doesn't feel right my eyebrows burn so bad I can take it and was In tears. I called back to see if anything new was used as far a products was told no when asked to speak to Vanessa was told Vanessa was gone already. Went in the next day to show them what my daughter was going through by this time she looked horrible. I was told that it seemed as if Vanessa over exfoliated and I said no this is the wax being to hot and she then said yea I think so maybe try aloe to sooth the area was what I was told by the front desk girl. I was never distrustful, rude or nasty in any way I didn't ask for my money back I wasn't looking for a gift card or anything. I received a surprise spa day from my boyfriend on the day he proposed to me. I had no idea he had set up the appointment for my friend and I until after he proposed and told me he had arranged the whole thing and let the people at the front desk know multiple times that it was a special day and to keep everything a surprise. When my friend and I arrived we were greeted and taken back to the room. We awkwardly undressed in front of each other (no robes given and nowhere to put our clothes) and got under the sheets. We both received a foot treatment and 60 minute massage. Both services were the worst either of us has ever experienced. I, myself, am a licensed cosmetologist and attended beauty school. I received better foot treatments at the school by fellow students than I received that day by these supposed professionals. Both of us have been to a wide variety of spas and massage places ranging from very high end all the way down to massage schools. The foot treatment was uncomfortable and awkward and we could not wait for it to be over. The massage that day was the worst either of us has ever had, even at the massage school. Both the esthetician and the massage therapist were nice, but seemed extremely inexperienced. Aside from bad technique, the massage therapist was extremely unprofessional and did not understand the concept of relaxation. He dragged around chairs on the hard floor, banged his elbows into the wall, squeaked his shoes on the floor, and breathed very heavily the entire time. It was so distracting I could not wait for it to be over. I had tons of knots in my back and neck, which I indicated was a concern, but not one single area was even touched. It felt like he was just randomly rubbing oil on my back. I have never left a massage so unrelaxed in my life. It was as if it was his first ever massage. I am normally not one to complain at a salon or restaurant, even if I feel like I've been cheated, but this I cannot let go. My boyfriend spent $235 on this and it was a complete waste of money on such a special day for us. Not knowing he had set the whole thing up (I was told my friend had received the package as a gift and her husband couldn't go so I took his place), I complained about how unprofessional and horrible the whole experience was to my boyfriend, who had actually set the whole thing up so that he could give me the perfect day before he proposed that night. I felt absolutely awful after I found out he paid for the whole thing and had wanted it to be perfect, but it was just the opposite and I told him all about it not knowing he was behind it. I just wanted the owners to know how bad the experience was and how absolutely disappointed I was in the services we received for that amount of money. I sent an email and never got a reply. Sadly, massage schools and massage chains such as Massage Heights, etc. give much better massages and more sophisticated services for less money. Again, I am just so dissatisfied. read more
