I will tell you this about the Hattiesburg OFFICE . BUYER BE AWARE !!! They came in my new home and…read moreplaced rat poison without it being in container which was the proper protocol. This ruined my custom built cypress cabinets in my outdoor kitchen and my painted concrete floors in the main house. When we finally got in touch with Orkin, the office manager, Amanda, denied she was the office manager. Stated she was just a office worker. She stated she had no contact information for any of her managers or supervisors. This issue has been going on since October 2023 and we still have no resolution. Please think twice about using this company. They are unreliable, unaccountable, unprofessional and non-truth speakers. BEWARE!!!!

I needed to get someone out that day. A man from Orkin came. He checked the house. Carpenter ants and termites are frequently found together. We were lucky no termites were found. He informed me they do not remove the nest. They will spray it and it will take about a week to kill the nest. The issue I had was the work will not continue, until the nest is removed. Apparently removing nests is something pest control companies do not do. I asked if I shop vacuumed the nest, then sprayed insecticide into the shop vacuum, if this would work. He said this is how other owners, in the same situation, have resolved how to get rid of the nest, and have work continue. He gave some suggestions to not remove the lid and spray, because the ants will escape. He told me to spray into the hose of the shop vacuum which I did, then taped the end so none could escape. He also told me not to vacuum up the nest until right before they come, otherwise the carpenter ants will move and make it harder to get rid of. He set up a time when they would come out on Monday and explained thoroughly what I should expect. I vacuumed up the nest before they came on Monday. They came out on time. They dug a trench at the foundation, were we agreed to get a "Special Service" (spot treatment). Digging the trench, I was surprised how many roots were next to the house. Roots are a highway for insects to come into the house. They broke the roots up. Orkin then thoroughly flooded the trench, let it soak in, partially refilled the trench with the dirt, and reflooded the trench with more insecticide. They said termites are the hardest insects to get rid of so any chemicals that kill termites, kill other insects found in homes, including carpenter ants. By digging the trench and flooding it twice they create a barrier for insects for 10 years in that area, as long as the barrier is not disturbed. Orkin then sprayed in the attic where the nest had been. Orkin is not cheap. It cost $374.50 with tax to do a "Special Service" (spot treatment). I feel I got my money's worth. They were fast, professional, and on time. They answered my questions. I could see the ants dying immediately. It has been a week and I have not seen any new ants. I would have given them a 5/5, but I felt like I was being pressured to sign a contract that would be just under $3000 with tax to treat the whole house for 3 years. I needed to resolve the current issue as quickly as possible, then time to decide what to do long term.
