I honestly can't say enough good things about my experience at Current Salon & Color Bar by Nese…read more From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by name before I even spoke, and the entire team made me feel welcomed and comfortable. The salon itself is beautiful...very artsy, chic, and full of positive energy. What stood out to me most was how well everyone worked together. You can tell this is a team that truly enjoys what they do and supports one another, which made the whole experience feel so genuine. I was referred to Mayko after seeing the amazing job he did on my nurse's hair, and I knew I had to book an appointment with him. It ended up being one of the best decisions I've made. I was beyond impressed. My hair had previous damage, and after speaking with other stylists who seemed nervous to even touch it, Mayko came in with confidence and completely put me at ease. He knew exactly what he was doing. The final result turned out even better than I imagined. He's definitely earned my loyalty. Nese, the owner, was also so warm and involved throughout the salon, helping wherever needed and making sure everyone was taken care of. This was easily one of the best salon experiences I've had, and it was absolutely worth the 45-minute drive. Looking forward to my next appointment.

Instead of simply copying a picture, she talked through my hair, what would work best for it, and what I realistically wanted to do with it every day. After our consultation, we decided to go in a completely different direction and give me a pixie--and I LOVE IT. She gave me a soft, piecey, effortless cut that looks great without requiring me to fight with my hair every morning. I can wash it, let it dry, run my fingers through it, and go. Exactly what I wanted. What impressed me most was that Kelly wasn't just focused on giving me a beautiful haircut when I left the salon; she gave me a haircut that actually makes sense for me once I'm home. That is the difference between simply cutting hair and really understanding your client. Five stars for Kelly. I couldn't be happier with my pixie!

Avoid Micheal Shawn (Kiet Vo) at all costs!…read more Booked a 1:30 appointment. Showed up 10 minutes early. Stood by the desk, someone asked if I needed help, I said I had a 1:30 with Micheal, then was told to sit upfront and he'd come check with me. 20 minutes later, still sitting in the front when a walk-in came in, someone went to go ask Micheal and he said 20-30 minutes and he'd be with him. So I walked back to talk to him and he was deep into coloring someone else's hair, gloves on and everything. So I asked if I still had my appointment, he said "Oh yeah," then said he'd help me in a little. He came and grabbed me finally, then immediately started accosting me about how it's my fault I didn't walk over to him. I don't live here, I don't know who he is so how could I? He continued to accost me the whole cut, lecturing me how it's my fault I had to wait, he even said he saw me in there. 3-5 minutes into the cut he asked if I wanted product. I was so confused, he hadn't done anything I wanted so I asked "are you done?" He said yes, so I repeated what I wanted, then he told me no, he wasn't going to do that and then continued doing what I didn't want for 15 more seconds, then asked how I wanted to pay. My hair is so uneven and is completely fucked up. It's so uneven and he missed parts of my hair... He also works at Scotch and Scissors apparently and tried to get me to go there and told me it'd be $65 there instead of $45 at Village 9. $65 for a 3 minute cut while getting accosted and told he wouldn't cut my hair like I asked? This man is a criminal. I really wish one of the nice ladies at Village 9 would've responded to my inquiry for a cut, they would've been head and shoulders above him.

I am so glad that I found Felicia!…read more When my hair stylist left for a military move, I became anxious thinking about trying new stylists. When I finally tried one, I was left than thrilled. I was left with a frumpy cut, and it wasn't what I asked for. That's when I met Felicia. She asked if I'd be ok with another cut and offered her services. I agreed. First, let me tell you how much I love that Felicia COMES TO YOU!! Especially with a toddler, it can sometimes be hard to get out of the house for some me time. Felicia makes it simple and comes to you with the salon; she even brings a complete hair washing station! The second time Felicia came to my home to tend to my hair, I told her that I wanted an extreme color - bright purple - but I wasn't sure how I wanted to implement. She suggested all over color and her signature cut - a short bob. Although I was nervous to be cutting of 10 inches or so, I trusted Felicia and agreed to her plan, and boy am I glad that I did! I now have a beautiful, short, magenta Bob that frames my face perfectly. I couldn't ask for a better cut and color! I hope that Felicia never moves away, because I don't know what I'll do if she does. I recommend her to EVERYONE.

Had an awesome cut with Lauren today…read more I initially emailed because they're listed on the bottom of the Yip Deals emails as offering a special, but the link didn't go anywhere. The owner responded right away even though it was after hours. If you park in the parking lot, you have to walk down the stairs and go to the left - they're right below the Mexican restaurant, and you will pass a few other places before you get to them. The salon itself has a very cool beachy and modern vibe. It's laid out nicely and very clean. I felt like even though I wasn't able to give Lauren a whole lot of direction during our consultation, she was really able to read between the lines and interpret what I was getting at. My thick hair looks super healthy and doesn't feel heavy anymore, and she didn't even use a razor to thin it out as most people want to. Lauren knows her stuff!! And my husband even noticed the difference in my hair - that's HUGE. I also love the variety of haircare lines they carry but not in an overwhelming way - as Lauren put it, they carry their favorites. I got the impression they take a lot of pride in what they present to their clients and are not there to oversell you on a ton of stuff you don't need, just what will work for you. If you go because of this review, let me (and them!) know - they have a great referral program that gets you 10% off, but I'm not sure if you need to present the card they gave me. Either way, I would definitely give them a shot!!

It pains me to write this review…read more I know by doing so, I am making it much harder for me to get an appointment with Maddie. As it is now, Saturdays and weekday nights are near impossible to book with her and thats with weeks notice in advance. However, I will perform my Yelp duties and post my review. I've already been putting it off for a couple months to keep Maddie to myself, but that's against what Yelp stands for, so I must post kicking and screaming. Maddie is: Awesome. You want full highlights? She's done 3 colors for me to give a natural look. THREE. And she hand paints my baby-fine hair in front without putting it in foil since its more delicate. The cut? Fantastic. She's fixed me up with a manageable, but modern cut. The fiance used to go next door to Roosters, and I convinced him to give Maddie a try since he'd complain after every cut. He continues to go to her...which is huge, because he hasn't been happy with any cut in years. To get to Waves, park at the top parking lot (near Walgreens) and take the stairs or elevator down to the street level. Waves is a small salon which I love, and only has a few chairs which is much more pleasant in my opinion. Waves doesn't have the long line of chairs and craziness going on. Its intimate and much more personal. I love Maddie, she does amazing work especially with color and is one of the best I've seen with my "problem" hair.

I used to take my son to local barbers & the results were unpredictable. Sometimes my son was happy but the times he teared up were bad. I do fork the extra for my son's hair because he hasn't teared up since I started taking him here. His hair is done nicely every time except the side burns are usually uneven. I opted for the "Deva Treatment" for curly hair that included a dry cut, wash and deep conditioning, then styling. The care that went into the cut and showing me how to style it moving forward was very much appreciated. I recommend the treatment as a first visit but future visits can only be the dry cut (making it only just more than double what I would normally pay ‍). Also, it took about 3 hours for the cut, wash, deep conditioning, & styling...another reason to only do the dry cut in the future. I'm not really sure I can justify the cost too much to return but I'm also not sure I can say that I've ever loved a haircut like I do this one. Four stars is mainly for price. Five stars for everything else.
