My partner + I recently rented an apartment nearby and were excited to try this restaurant. At 7pm…read morewe were the first customers to arrive so we were fortune to meet the owners, Vincent + Ilse, and briefly hear their story. What a wonderful couple! The indoor dining space is small + cozy with an elegant yet comfortable vibe thanks to the friendly greeting and fun artwork. The menu is small yet well-curated with something for every palate - seafood, meat, chicken, etc. After ordering mocktails, Vincent surprised us with a taste of vegetable soup (shockingly savory!) followed by our escargot starter. My partner + I love escargot and Vincent's was no exception. We were off to a great start! For entrees we ordered the Dover sole and duck. The sole included a simple, delicious butter lettuce salad with seasoned roasted potatoes, and the duck included potato croquettes and a warm cabbage + pancetta salad (which I was particularly happy to gobble down for lunch the next day!). All items were perfectly prepared, well seasoned, and truly delicious! Afterward my partner + I shared a pear dessert which was essentially a baked (or maybe steamed?) whole pear dipped in chocolate and topped with vanilla ice cream and whipped topping. So simple yet savory and 100% satisfying. Then Vincent surprised us again with a final sampling of his yummy panna cotta! In hindsight, we are so fortunate our visit occurred on a slow winter weeknight, a time in which Vincent + Ilse are able to be fully involved greeting and servicing customers themselves - although I have a feeling they try their best to provide the same personal touch even in the height of summer. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know them a bit more each time they checked in on us. Thank you, Vincent + Ilse! You turned a typical night out into a very memorable evening. We will absolutely be back + look forward to seeing you both again soon!

Our meal was wonderful from start to finish. In addition to some fabulous food meeting Vincent and his lovely wife made the experience even more worth the visit. They are just charming and so helpful recommending different options on their menu and even shared some sites to visit while we're in Kortrijk. Be sure to make a reservation if you are planning on dining at Vincent's during the weekends or during the busy Summer months. Enjoy!

Yes, the interior is nicely and modernly done. Yes they have some unique options, like a beer pairing with your meal instead of the traditional wine pairing (which is also available). Yes, they tried some innovative things, like a meringue dessert with beetroot and radishes (not a home run, I'm afraid) and the beer butter (third base on that one). But there were also a lot of uninventive dishes, such as the meat (a bit chewy) with sauce (good but boring), the hard boiled egg (just a hard boiled egg, nothing fancy about it) and an apple pie (apples were soaked in some sort of alcohol but otherwise it was pretty standard). Overall it was all good but none of it was wow - except the service, which was very attentive, personable and not pretentious. Five stars for service but sadly three stars for food. Not Michelin worthy in my opinion.
