I just went to the vintage jewelry place I bought the white gold ring from in a different town and I told them that the these guys told me it was silver... they informed me I was ripped off, showed me the entire collection of the white gold jewelry that was fully authenticated.... Ladies do not come here. They rip you off!!! Make sure you get several appraisals. I am dumb for believing these guys and selling them my white gold ring. They will take advantage of you if you are a women.

With gold and silver at an all time high I had jewelry that I was finally ready to part with. I've never sold precious metals and didn't want to get taken advantage of. It just so happened that Polyak was my first stop. Clearly tested and priced out all of my pieces of 22k, 14k, and sterling (stamped and unstamped). Anton was great. Wrote everything down and encouraged me to shop around. I went to a spot in the marina, then a touristy spot in north beach, followed by the Richmond. Polyak's was giving me a higher amount for everything. In addition many were not accepting silver (or only stamped silver). So after shopping around I went back to Polyak and Anton gave Boris the details and took care of me. I ended up getting lucky with gold mining up while I was shopping around, but next time I'll go straight to Polyak!

I had a great experience at Bay Area Gold & Silver Buyers. Jacob was incredibly patient,…read moreknowledgeable, and took the time to answer all of my questions without making me feel rushed. He thoroughly explained the evaluation process and made everything easy to understand, which I really appreciated. The entire experience was professional, transparent, and straightforward. I left feeling confident that I received an honest evaluation of my jewelry. I would definitely come back in the future to have more jewelry evaluated and wouldn't hesitate to sell here.

Larry, the owner, responded thus: "Regarding the scrap…read moresilver price discrepancy you highlighted, we must clarify that our current rates are significantly higher than the figure you mentioned." "The figure I mentioned" was the scrap value, which is precisely what your employee told me that your "current rate" is. That "rate" is the lowest amount that a silver coin could possibly be worth, without losing money on it. The other coin buyers I work with pay nearly double that amount, for reasons I mentioned (the fungibility of silver coins). So it sounds to me like there is either a disconnect between your policy and your employee's understanding of it, or that you're just trying to spin this in a positive way. Either way, I wasted my time. I took the coins to Polyak on Monday and was paid about double the scrap value, which is much higher than what you would've paid me. ‍ But I'll give you another star for at least responding.

I ran into a bad time with my mortgage company when I had some emergency expenses during March of…read morethis year. I called and let them know what was going on and that I would make a double payment at the beginning of April. Much to my surprise, they told me that this wasn't going to work for them and if I didn't pay them immediately, they were going to foreclose on my house! I was like, "After a month? Are you serious?!" Indeed they were, and I had no idea a mortgage company could foreclose if someone was only ONE MONTH LATE! I didn't have the money to cover it nor anyone to borrow from. So I started thinking what I could pawn to get the money right away. I settled on a collector guitar that I owned and started making calls. No one was willing to loan me much on it, and Maxferd was highly rated and I explained what I had when I called. I had spoken to Michael and he explained that they didn't deal with musical instruments and he gave me a referral to another local shop. I checked with them and a couple of other shops and no one was able to provide the loan that I wanted. I called back Maxferd's and spoke with Michael again. He said he had a couple more referrals if I needed them. I said no, I'm really in a hurry to do this because time is short and the guitar was so valuable that I really didn't even like taking it out of the house! Then I asked him about the jewelry loans and explained a bit about what I had to borrow against and he said I should be good to borrow that much with what I had, but of course, he would have to see the items first before he would know for sure. So I went in the next day and brought everything over. I pawned 5 rings for the 1K loan, including a custom handmade one of a kind ring that had belonged to my mother and had been in my family for 50 years. Michael gave me the lowest rate on that ring so that I could afford to get it back the soonest. He also knew which ring was a keepsake from working for the phone company, another custom one-of-a-kind ring that I had bought from the daughter of a fellow phone company employee. So he gave me the best rate on those 2 rings so that I could afford to get them back first. When my pension check came, I went down there right away to pick both of them up. And I was so relieved to have them back! I had to pick up the other 3 rings much later in the loan, and I would call - a few times - to check on the interest and how long I had left to pick them up. I ended up being able to get them about a week before the loan was due and - I lost the pawn tickets!!! OMG! Most pawn shops really sock it to you if you lose those tickets. I called again to check what the extra charges would be for a lost ticket. They only charge $2 per lost ticket, plus they thoroughly verify ID. So I just picked my last 3 rings up a couple of days ago, and they were just as kind and considerate as always. No one wants to have to borrow money against their most prized possessions, but sometimes life will hit you like that. And if it does, Maxferd is the best place to go. The folks there are the kindest and most considerate that I have ever dealt with at a pawn shop. Highly Recommended!!!
