Wether you're looking to achieve weight-loss/physical fitness through a high energy workout or you're planning to put your skills to test in competition, VMAA has knowledgable instructors to help you reach your goals. I have been going to the academy for a few years now. I appreciate the variety of knowledge that is available with each of the instructors whether you're learning about kickboxing, muay thai, JKD or grappling - all instructors bring their special talents and years of experience together to help train mixed martial arts. Lastly, it's the people who go there (the students) that round out the entire experience. It's important to have a friendly and positive environment when you're getting a tough workout and there's no shortage of encouragement.

When I was training there I was truly amazed at the caliber of training and people there.. But dont take my word for it look it up yourself, Shihan Miura studied kyokushin karate under founder Mas Oyama, Mas Oyama trained in many martial art styles he even trained in the dojo of Gichin Funakoshi, Shotokan Karate founder. There is real history here ,This is just a small bit of history there are literally volumes of history and it can be all checked out and verified on the internet. When I was training there Shihan Miura called his style of karate " Traditional Japanese Karate" and thats what it is. People from Japan are always visiting , and he use to have some live in students from Japan ( uchi deshi ) The Miura dojo has both young, children's classes, and older students training there. There is something there for everyone. I developed some health problems or I would still be there. Osu Ron I took this off one of Miura Dojo web pages ( http://www.miuradojo.com/?page_id=31 ) Shihan Miyuki Miura was born in 1949 in Chiba, Japan, the son of a ship's engineer. He began training in Shotokan karate at the age of 13, and had been promoted to the rank of 2nd dan black belt by his 18th birthday. He had also studied judo, achieving the rank of 1st dan at the age of 17. In 1968, upon attending college, Miura studied Kyokushin karate under karate legend Sosai Oyama (founder and director of Kyokushin karate). After graduating from Josai International University, Miura became an uchi deshi (live-in student) at the honbu dojo (headquaters) for two years becoming chief instructor. In 1971, he placed 4th in Kyokushin's All-Japan Tournament. Miura won Kyokushin's All-Japan Tournament in 1972, beating many of Japan's best competion along the way. Soon after he became champion, Sosai Oyama asked him to participate in the 100-man kumite. The 100-man kumite involves fighting 100 karate practitioners, with each full contact match following immediately after the other. Miura completed the test in a little over 3 hours on April 13, 1972. Following recovery, Mas Oyama sent Miura to the United States to run the Chicago Kyokushin dojo. Miura has since taught in the Chicago area since 1973. In 2001, he established his own independent style, World Karate Do - Miura Dojo, where he works with other full contact dojos internationally as head of the Global Budo Karate Alliance. Shihan Miura now holds the rank of 8th dan.

I was looking for a personalized holistic training approach including physical workouts and…read morenutritional guidance. Tommaso setup a 12 week program for me around these needs and I was very happy with the process and results and I then signed up for a second 12 week engagement (currently happening at the time of this review). Everything is virtual which allows a lot of freedom and the ability to maintain our workout schedule when I'm traveling by bringing a minimal amount of gear. I was initially skeptical of a virtual approach but after speaking with his prior clients and experiencing it for myself it has proved great - don't let this hold you back. Workouts are tailored to my level and abilities and address aches and pains when they arise. The nutritional coaching has been key for me as we review my weekly eating habits and tweak things slowly over time to eliminate unhealthy cravings with healthy substitutions and mental awareness of eating decisions. I wanted a realistic all around approach to maintain a healthy lifestyle. I have done my share of extreme diets and workout regimens which work for a while but aren't sustainable. Tommaso is focused on realistic long term strategies that will work long into the future and that is what I'm getting. I highly recommend working with Tommaso to tailor a program for you and achieve your specific goals.

He is excellent at designing workouts and he has so much positive energy that it rubs off on you. I have always been active, but losing my job, then being on lockdown with a toddler threw me off my game. The gyms were closed, the weather was nasty, and I just couldn't motivate myself to do workouts at home. I gained weight and felt sluggish. I was not myself. That's when I found Tommaso and helped me turn things around. At first, I was not excited about the concept of a virtual trainer. I didn't think it would be much better than a workout video. Boy was I wrong! I signed up for the assessment and decided to have an open mind. After that first session I was really encouraged. I was amazed at how well Tommaso could identify what was going on with my body all through my iPad screen. For example, he could tell that my right side was weaker and knew that I had an old injury on that side without me telling him. He also radiated positivity and talked about mind and body, not just about training or losing weight. I took the plunge and signed up to work with him for 3 months minimum. Now 5 months later, I'm so happy I made that decision. He has helped me transform my body and feel good again. If you're thinking about working with him, just do it! You won't be sorry.
