For a main I went for some mushroom fun (ghi). Sorry bad pun alert! The steaks are cooked to perfection though or you can stick to chicken, duck or whatever takes your fancy. Excellent puddings as to be expected and a totally extravagant dining experience all round. Don't expect it to come cheap, it doesn't but we all need a total blow out sometimes in our lives. Our room was one of the new ones, happily not new room, just newly decorated, had lots of old features, was clean, tidy and had everything we needed. We booked in and went out exploring for a while, came back and got a bottle of house wine, 2 glasses and a cooler to take up to the room while we got ready for dinner. Dinner was first class. The food was well prepared, well served and there was plently of it. I had the best king prawns I have ever had followed by duck which was cooked to perfection. Trev has sea bass ( I think) and that was delicious too. We don't really do desserts, but folk around us were smacking their lips at theirs, so they must be good too. The wine was a little on the expensive side and nowt flash, but not bad enought to really complain about. We will defo be back as soon as possible, for longer hopefully, and we have recommended it to all our mates, especially those who like a bit of Jazz with their dinner.... nice

Nice spot to lounge with a coffee after the meal. I find the menu here small, but I've never had a problem finding something I like. There are standard pub dishes like fish and chips plus more modern gastropub food. Some people may find the way the food is presented to be peculiar. For example, the chicken liver pate was served on a bed of decorative pebbles. I think it works for a place like this. The quality of the food here is excellent. Everything always tastes freshly made to order and served piping hot. Service is prompt and polite. I think the only gripes I found are the parking lot is too tiny and there isn't a proper cocktail menu. With a bar stocked the way theirs is, it deserves a nice cocktail menu. This pub has become a staple for my trips to the Dales. I highly recommend it for those travelling through the area.

Just off a minor road on and even smaller road, this takes some faith if you are driving in the dark. We were greeted with a nice welcome and asked if we had reservations which means this place must get busy. It was fairly empty on a Wednesday night there are several rooms including a proper dinning area. The bar is reached on two sides of the dinning room with bar stools in both rooms and a lot of small tables. Great, traditional, British, old style pub and restuarant. One young waiter seemed new and eager to help while the other young waiter seemed to be the "boss" and was a bit colder and commanding the other two. No worries as that is not why we were there. I ordered a chicken pie and my wife ordered a salad and local salami platter. They were all great. Because the three waiters were more or less kids, none of them had tried any beer and could not give me any advice. I had two of the local beers which were good. A few more people came in to had drinks and dinner as well. It seems like a nice place to stay over as well, but that will have to wait until another day.

The menu is small and not hugely varied but personally this helped me make a decision and not stress over the menu forever. It seems that they change the menu often which is nice. I chose scallop ravioli in a lobster bisque to start, and goose for main. We also shared a few bottles of the house red among the table. The food was typical 'bistro' style: small-medium portions, nicely presented, and very tasty. Price-wise I'd say it's mid range.
