Yes folks Bavaria is wonderful but you have to do your shopping before 8pm monday to a saturday - so finding this heaven at the main railway station (Hauptbahnhof) has saved many a life, relationship, date and party. It might in some areas be a little pricier, less choice but meets most basic and emergency needs - hence the 5* rating. Got an excellent cold room full of beer. Spirits are behind the cash desks. Queues can be long especially weekends - Sunday evening when everyone is arriving or coming back home is a chore. But thank you for small inconveniences.

There's a new Aldi in northwest Munich! It's a really good one too. Here's the deets:…read more 1) Easy to reach with the 63 Bus, this Aldi is in the lower level of the new "Forum" shopping centre at the north end of the Friendheimer Brücke. 2) There is a parking garage for those of you who drive. 3) The store is really large. While the selection is pretty standard for all Aldi locations, the fact that they have space means they are less likely to be out of whatever you need, as can often happen at smaller Aldi locations right before Ruhetage. 4) The large space also means that there are more "special" items for sale in the middle of the store, such as an extra large Easter candy display. Yum. 5) I might be seeing things through rose-tinted lenses, but I have the feeling that there are more organic items here than at other locations. For example, I saw organic whole grains - spelt, millet, barley - being sold here, which I haven't noticed anywhere else. 6) After getting the basics here, it's easy to round out the rest with either the Alnatura or the Rewe on the ground floor level.

Compared to other stores in the area, I know I can always count on HIT for having things like cilantro, and a wider variety of herbs and spices - also a wider variety of meats; and depending on the cut and what type of meat you're buying it might be cheaper than, let's say, Rewe. However, as a whole, I find myself spending more money at this store. In general I don't think that the food is more expensive, but since they have such a wide variety of items I go a bit crazy - I also drive there and park in their garage so I probably mentally set myself up for a bigger shop. It's a good grocery store, big, clean, and fruitful.
