When I went to this stand, there were a bunch of locals and myself - very friendly & talkative locals lol. Chez Magali is the red stand between the two options.
Created in the 1930s, L'Estaque district's famous stretched doughnuts have such a unique look to them, often compared to churros which I don't understand because they look so different. It's even said - don't tell an Estacan that Chichi Frégi are like churros! :P
Did I mention they're vegan?!
This unique pastry is thick & fluffy, almost as if pumped with air to give a light delicious flavor. You can have it plain, with sugar or even with chantilly whipped cream. We preferred the nicely dusted with sugar version best but ymmv.
I recommend getting one from each stand & comparing as I did! My friend and I found a huge stone to sit on while overlooking the ocean, about 10 steps from the stand. Gorgeous views with delicious eats in Marseilles!
