    They know who I am. They contacted me after a bad Yelp review. Beware. More concerned with image than helping. As a lay person, filing is a daunting task. So, you want your lawyer to help? Or to use his "skills" to muddle serious and fact based accusations on social media? My voicemail and inbox were inundated with solicitations to pay for another consultation. I simply wanted to know which court to file in. If you're in a situation when you're in an uninhabitable housing, the last thing you want is your lawyer piling on to what is already a stressful situation. Thanks, Eric. Asking for a 2nd fee when a client simply wants to know where to file, not a good look. And then responding to that inquiry with a termination of services letter. Classic cover your ass move. All the time you've spent on social media and writing that letter? Probably could have simply told a lay person and client where to file. Yelpers, ask yourself, is this the guy I want in my corner when dealing with a scummy landlord? All it did for me was add to my frustrations. RESPONSE TO HIS EDITED YELP RESPONSE. SEE SCREENSHOT FOR HIS FIRST COMMENT. I changed my positive review after opening the link tenant law group sent me to file. It was a rats nest of options and copious unrelated ordinances that was too complicated for a layperson. I HAD TO WAIT TO FILE. I DID NOT WANT TO BE STILL RESIDING THERE WHEN I FILED. READ ERIC'S TERMINATION LETTER. HE SAID THERE WAS A STATUTE OF LIMITATIONS. HE DIDN'T HAVE THE DECENCY (OR MAYBE HE DOESN'T KNOW) TO TELL ME HOW MUCH TIME I HAVE. SO THAT POSITIVE REVIEW WAS BEFORE SEEING THAT THEY DID NOT PROVIDE CLEAR INSTRUCTIONS ABOUT WHERE TO FILE. Read the screenshot of his first yelp response. He tried to say he didn't know who I was. I guess that means his law firm gets a lot of clients upset that they want to charge for a 2nd consultation fee to be told where to file. He's bragging about 5 star reviews? Over 10% of his reviews are 2 stars or less! Thanks Eric. Didn't think to look at the numbers until you mentioned your reviews. My initial intake was unprofessional. Read all the negative reviews about their intake worker Caesar. The guy who did my intake didn't read the questionnaire I took 45 minutes to fill out and attach several files. He thought I was calling about another issue! He didn't apologize. Didn't say hold on while I review what you sent us. He just tried to schedule me for a paid consultation. After my initial bad review, they reached out and said they could help. They've spent more time on here than they did on my case. I made a big mistake trusting these folks. Eric is a mess defending himself here. You really want this guy to be your brain trust for a lawsuit? * I told the Lawyer consulting me that I wanted to sue as soon as our conversation began. He said he would send me the information for filing. He sent me a long-winded form letter! And note that he starts out with an apology for my initial contact with TLG. ASK YOURSELF, WOULD THIS FORM LETTER MAKE THINGS MORE CLEAR FOR YOU LOOKING TO FILE: "It was a pleasure speaking with you this evening.  I am truly sorry that your experience in San Francisco has been so unpleasant and that your interaction with our intake process compounded the frustration you have had to deal with in resolving the situation.  Please find links to the laws we discussed below as well as the text of the laws themselves.  I have also provided a link to the Judicial Council's self-help guide and the San Francisco Superior Court's instructions for filing a small claims court case.  Section 1941 is the actual warranty of habitability.  However, Section 1942.4 contains the actual damages provision you would want to cite to in order to claim the $5,000 maximum statutory damages as well as the refund of rent paid.  Please let me know if you have any questions or if we can be of assistance in any other way. California Civil Code Section 1941 The lessor of a building intended for the occupation of human beings must, in the absence of an agreement to the contrary, put it into a condition fit for such occupation, and repair all subsequent dilapidations thereof, which render it untenantable, except such as are mentioned in section nineteen hundred and twenty-nine. California Civil Code Section 1942.4 (a) A landlord of a dwelling may not demand rent, collect rent, issue a notice of a rent increase, or issue a three-day notice to pay rent or quit pursuant to subdivision (2) of Section 1161 of the Code of Civil Procedure, if all of the following conditions exist prior to the landlord's demand or notice: ... it goes on like this FOREVER. None of this relates to my grievance! But it gets you back for a 2nd consultation. Real personal touch! A wordy, esoteric form letter that does nothing with regard to helping me file. The guide provided is confusing. WHERE DO I FILE MY CASE?!

    Had an excellent consultation call with attorney Tina of Tobener Ravenscroft…read more This firm specializes in tenant protections, and I reached out to them in the midst of dealing with a nightmare neighbor situation (see my recent reviews of Drysdale Property Management and Alameda Police Department for the whole story). Tina called me at our scheduled time, and I happily did not receive any reminders beforehand; (appointment reminders, especially repeat reminders, are a pet peeve of mine - I made the appointment, and we're on unless I let you know otherwise). So full disclosure, I have a healthy skepticism of attorneys based on past experiences, and kept my expectations low going into this consultation. But I was very pleasantly surprised with how the call went.
