Having operated under a few different names over the years, the current Co Op Taxi service draws on a wide network of drivers who are usually within 5 /10 minutes of a pick up destination. Outside of regulated fare costs there are no additional fees for this service -although you may feel obliged to tack on a Thank You for the polite (even charming) manner of the drivers ferrying you about town. The phone-in booking system is a breeze, with hold times greatly reduced now that the service is fully up and running. Within two minutes callers should be able to book their car -frequent users can cut that back even more by registering their phone number with the company. Currently, the only drawback is the missing / broken website which will allow online bookings once all is repaired.

I pre-booked a taxi from the Gibson Hotel to the airport Wednesday 19th October. It was late, so I…read morephoned again and was told it was on the way. I watched on my app and finally it showed that the taxi was on the way. It didn't change and after 20 minutes more, it showed that the booking was cancelled. I phoned again and reinstated the booking. After checking my watch and realising I had been waiting for an hour, I gave up and called Free Now. Got a taxi in 5 minutes. There was a lady next to me also waiting. She also ended up calling Free Now and phoned up to tell Lynk (who her company had an account with). She was told "you should just always call them". I doubt they still have the account. Why take bookings? Especially to the airport? Really, really bad.

Booking made (two weeks before my trip) and assurance given that the pick-up would be with the driver being in the arrivals hall of Dublin Airport with a name board. When I arrived (11.05 p.m.), nobody was there. I called twice, there was an authomatic message "you have a booking for..." but the operatar told me that they had some problems (???) and so there wasn't a taxi for me. Certainly will not be using again and absolutely not recommending. Look for another firm before using this one!

The cars are always nice and new, the drivers are professional and know where they're going, and they do special requests (ask for a van, get a van). There's a €2 fee for pre-booking, but it's good peace of mind. So is the fact that all cars take credit and laser cards (without a fuss) and have CCTV. You can even book online. If you're sick of riding in a smelly beaten up jalopy with a disinterested unwashed driver, give Xpert Digi Cabs a call.
