This Quaker meeting hall is a beautiful retreat right outside of Alamo Heights…read more This place is a serene building, set back from the hustle of Terrell Heights, in the woods with a simple building that allows for peaceful reflection, prayer and solitude. They offer ongoing meetings here to learn about spirituality. The Quaker style is unique, where they don't really have a church leader in their prayer sessions. Instead, anyone may get up and speak their mind. There's also just times of quiet and solitude, where you can meditate. The grounds are beautiful, a Texas xeriscaped landscape. The place is ADA compliant, and there are plenty of parking spots available. They occasionally have festivals here, which are cool community building events. When we went, they had pot bellied pigs and a miniature horse! Wow!

This review is mainly about my experience baptizing my son here…read more So since we are a military family (like many in San Antonio) we decided to get our son baptize at this church. Getting the process going was way easier than through other churches in San Antonio because they are a different Catholic archdiocese. With that being said, baptisms only happen once a month during the 3rd Sunday of the month (but there are a few exceptions). The Sunday before the baptism we had to go to a "class" after mass, and had to fill out some paperwork which was very easy. Why I am giving this 3 stars, was because the entire ceremony (including the mass) lasted almost 2 hours. My son was THE ONLY baby being baptized, and frankly after 2 hours there he started to lose his sh*t. The priest looked totally lost and like he didn't know what he was doing. Kept holding this "manual" and looked so unprepared. I give it 3 stars because instead of being a pleasant and a beautiful experience, I am frankly a little traumatized by it. He could tell my son was exhausted and just over the entire thing, and he kept adding rituals that I had never seen before. Anyhow, do yourself a favor and find another church to baptize your children!

Never heard of this anywhere, but since it's on post, this makes for difficult planning. Otherwise, it's a beautiful indoor space, large outdoor space with more than adequate parking. Located in out of the way spaces of post, not much happens over here, so not a busy location. Easy access to the interstate roads and entry gates onto Post.

Came here for the Lebanese Food Festival, that goes on every winter…read more This is a nice church, with friendly parishioners, who made me feel welcome. The church is large, with lots of classrooms, a big gym, and plenty of places to sit and reflect. The church was clean, and there were lots of friendly people. They offer a snack bar and vending machines if you get hungry. I was taken aback at how the church events are sponsored by alcohol companies, and they offer a church lottery, which seems to run contrary to the teachings of the Bible. But I guess they've got to do whatever gets people in the pews.

I visited San Fernando Cathedral during the daytime, so I didn't get to see the evening light show…read morethat many people recommend. The cathedral itself is beautiful and historically significant, and I appreciated the chance to see one of the oldest cathedrals in the United States. Without the light show, the experience felt fairly brief. The architecture is impressive, but there wasn't much else to keep me there for very long. I can see why many visitors plan their trip around the nighttime projection show, as it seems to be a major part of the attraction. It's worth stopping by if you're already in the area, but I would recommend visiting in the evening to get the full experience.
