When they tell you they don't make fresh sushi and point you to 3 boxes of old slimy looking prepared items... You pass.

Good food for below average price, not recommended for business meal, but casual one ok for yourselfread more

I'm confused by the bipolar ratings received by JingJing as my experience was definitely good…read moreenough that I went there 2 evenings in a row. I found their food to be of good quality, flavorful and wide-ranging in terms of regional Asian genre style offered. I especially loved their helpful and friendly staff and the fact that they packaged my take away order in very sturdy, compact and convenient containers along with biodegradable wooden utensils. For awareness, I am reviewing my experience from the sit-down JingJing restaurant on the far west end in the upper mezzanine level of The Squaire and not the small JingJing "grab and go" stand in the lower level of The Squaire closer to the train terminal. All food there is pre-made for convenience. I was prepared to not like this place because it violates one of my basic rules for a restaurant in that it seems to try to do too much in order to appeal to all people. The name, feel and menu is largely Chinese and more specifically Northern Chinese (meaning hot, spicy, with red chilies and Sichuan peppercorns as the main style) but there are items from other areas of China (such as won ton style soup from Hong Kong), Japan (such as the adjacent sushi prep area and notable Udon noodles and a teriyaki rice bowl on the menu), and even Korea (there was Kim Chee on the menu too). I'm never confident that a restaurant can do that many things well especially when crossing ethnic borders. I did not try any of the Japanese or Korean items but I was satisfied with the Chinese food that I received. Ok, now for some perspective. First, this is located in Germany. Second, it is buried within an airport train terminal and is there to serve international transitory citizens and German office workers. It is not a destination for high-brow service or Michelin starred cuisine. Have I had better versions of baozi steamed dumplings or mapo tofu? Of course, especially in Hong Kong and various Chinatowns of the world. But the food here was certainly better than many places I've been to including some in Chinatowns of the world and I was impressed enough with it on my first visit that I came back the next night to try some other menu items. I think that says something. The items I liked the most were the dumplings and the cumin spiced lamb but I found no fault with any of the things that I had. For those Yelpers that complained about the amount of chilies and spice, I would recommend some situational awareness of what you are ordering. Northern style dishes especially Sichuan based classics are supposed to be that way. I actually found them to be not as spicy as I am used to so the preference is all what you are used to. I really loved the convenience of the location since I was staying at one of the hotels attached to The Square on the opposite end of the terminal. A short walk from my room, all fully enclosed so it could be made in shorts and flip flops during October, and about 15 min later I was back in my room feeding my face. Along the way, there are a few convenience shops to purchase a beverage and that makes for a really easy meal when you are sleep-deprived and not wanting to make a big deal of trying to get something to eat in a foreign country. Now that I know JingJing is here, I am actually looking forward to a future stay at this airport hotel. Hopefully that gives you an idea of how much I liked this place.

After quite a long sushi break, my husband and I had a craving again…read more I cracked the whip and the googeling machine presented me with this gem: Sushi Bagan. It is a small place just around the corner of the Allianz building in Sachsenhausen, but easy enough to find. They offer a sushi buffet for lunch and dinner, but do a la carte sushi as well. So far we have been there twice for the lunch buffet and 10,90 € will get you a wide selection of sushi goodness. I love the variety they offer. They have all kinds of rolls, maki and nigiri with raw seafood, cooked tuna and veggies. There is something for everybody. In addition, they also offer a small warm buffet with miso soup, steamed rice, fried rice, noodles, curry chicken, spicy chicken, some kind of beef dish, and shrimps. 3 types of ice cream will satisfy your sweet tooth at the end of your meal. Their service is good too. Very friendly people serve your drinks within 5 minutes. You pay on your way out directly at the cash register which suits me just fine. (I hate to wait for the bill anyways.) In conclusion: If you can do without sashimi, this is the place to go for good sushi at a great price.

They have different kinds and for sure something for everyone. They also offer fried rice, curry, shrimps and ice-cream. The staff is always friendly and you get greeted very politely. The bathrooms and the dining area is always clean. We have been there many many times, countless time in the past 5 years. The lunch and the dinner buffet, both of the experiences are amazing. Parking is not great but if you don't mind waking you will for sure find a parking spot. Tram is right in front of the restaurant, no complaints, favorite sushi spot

I really like the way ordering the menu by showing the purchased Groupon on my iPhone. We had a 3 course menu with Miso soup, Gyoza dumplings, luxury platter with fine selection of sushi and dessert. All was really delicious and so was the Matcha Ice Tea. Nothing to complain about the service as well. I'm also pleased that they shared my pictures from the dinner on their Facebook page. :-)

I first ordered the Sashimi Deluxe from the menu but was disappointed in the selection of fish--after checking the Yelp reviews and realizing that the next door kaitenzushi was connected and had a fuller selection, I queried the server. Luckily she was very sweet and spoke English. I was able to switch to the multi course (6 normally, but since I arrived late, 5) meal on an iPad menu. You choose up to four dishes per course or round and have 15 minutes before you can submit your next round of selections. There's a timer and you can't submit your next round until it zeros out. This was a new concept for me and I enjoyed the execution of it. It was way too much food if you try to maximize to 24 dishes--on round three I asked them to halve my portions to a single sushi nigiri piece each dish instead of the customary two. I wanted the variety, but not volume. I ended on round 4 and am still overly full hours later. The business model was neat and modern, the servers both very sweet and the portions generous, especially for 25.30 Euros which included my jasmine tea. The fish seemed fresh, but I would have liked to see a broader selection--I would be willing to pay an upcharge for hamachi, toro, and uni. The fried selection was not a full fledged izakaya menu but good sampling. The desserts were also a good sampling although more than the mochi, I really wanted small scoops of azuki or matcha ice cream. Four stars is appropriate for a value meal chock full of options tailored to more mass appeal in a tastefully modern setting with kind waitstaff.
