So off we went to claim our winnings and what we found was a state of the art television and editing facility in our own backyard. We were so impressed that we have signed up for an orientation session so we can become volunteers and a yearly membership is only $20. That gives you access to cameras, microphones, editing suites and more. I guess I will have to brush up on my Final Cut Pro editing skills.

For those that do not, get with the times and pay the $20 for basic cable. I like NECN b/c it's all about local coverage. They have round the clock news, weather, sports and stories to pertain to our daily lives. It's a great way to get a good read on what is happening locally. I can't really watch regular news on 4,5 and 7 b/c they're on at fixed times and really dramatize the news. It's too much like "Current Affair" the tv show back in the 80s. Yes I am dating myself. I can watch NECN and get the news on MY TIME. Plus there are several personalities on NECN I enjoy. ;) They have great shows like the TV Diner with Kiss 108 sidekick Billy Costa, CEO Corner, NE Dreamhouse and of course the weekend morning news. No kiddie toons for me.

They have really excellent programs and I enjoy watching almost everything that's on. NECN is my go-to TV station when I have no clue what's on. Often I just have it on in the background while I'm doing chores. The local news coverage is great and it's on pretty much all the time. I also really enjoy the Does It Work segments, the weather with Matt Noyes and TV Diner with Billy Costa and Jenny Johnson. As a business student, I love CEO Corner and The Boss. These shows are really cool because they feature local CEOs and local businesses and allow you to really get a feel for the business strategies and the keys to each business's success. I really enjoyed the episodes on Honey Dew Donuts, Life is Good, and Pez. The only thing I don't enjoy about NECN is the rare hours when they show infomercials, like on Saturdays in the mid-afternoon. Other than that, it's all love.

Don has a large team as well if you need camera men lighting / sound etc. I don't know of any other studio that offers so much and is so close to Boston without the nightmare of being IN Boston/ easy parking and a one minute walk from the green line .

When I submitted the tape to be digitised, they conducted a technical assessment, quoted a price. However, they sent the quote to the wrong email address!, causing more than two weeks of unnecessary delays. On top of that, they didn't recogniz during the assessment that they lacked the technical capability to handle the job to start with!. Instead, they proceeded anyway and requested full charge which I paid, wasting my time and money. If you can't manage something as basic as sending an email to the correct address or properly identifying your technical limitations, you shouldn't be operating in this industry. Because of this incompetence and delays, I lost the chance to work with a more professional company. My only month in the country has been wasted because of this situation. This is clearly a basic shop for simple tasks, not a professional service provider.

I hired them to convert four, old 78 records to CDs. It looks like they played them on the wrong…read morerecord player with the wrong settings - some came back as if they'd been played as a 33 and some as if played as a 45. The records were mostly of piano music, so the music came out as v..e..r..y s...l...o...w and low-pitched because they were played at too slow of a speed. Another shop told me that in addition to speed differences, the 78 records should be played with a different type of cartridge than 33/45 records, so it would appear they didn't do that either. I'm familiar enough with computers to correct the speed in software, but it took a few hours of work, which I wasn't super happy to have needed to do. UPDATE: Increased rating from 2 to 3 stars - they kindly offered to refund the charge.
