The steak is fairly good, the variety on the menu is also pretty good for a meat lover. The outdoor sitting & table setting is very pretty but as the season in this area is usually very hot & flies attack you as soon as meat comes on the table, you would have thought that they fixed some repeller and fans on the patio but unfortunately they have totally missed that or overlooked that problem which makes the whole experience really unpleasant. I mean when you sit in the heat & flies are about to fly into your mouth every time you open it, you don't think so much about the taste anymore! As for me I just wanted to get away from that place! I must mention that we booked the first sitting at 7 p.m so maybe later in the evening is better. Even though the prices are on the higher side, they still charge you for the side dish which I didn't appreciate so much!

One of the best meals I had in Spain, wasn't Spanish! It was Argentinean. On my last day in…read moreTorremolinos, I decided to walk to the next town over, Carihuela. I looked and looked for something different than the fried fish, pre-prepared tapas places and the Irish pubs that abound here. One place caught my eye. There were cute flower pots on the tables and the spot looked more elegant, more cared for than the rest (I found out later that it was only 10 days old). The restaurant is called El Canto del Agua and it is located right after Playa Tully. Nancy (from Argentina) is the proprietor. She is an interior decorator, hence, the loving touches. I was going to order the shrimp brochettes, but thank goodness Nancy passed by to talk about the hot stone concept of cooking. Now, I rarely cook, and when I do, it isn't very palatable, and I hardly ever eat red meat, so I was super skeptical about cooking the steak at my table on my own. But, it is their specialty and Nancy is Argentinean, so she would know, so I figured I should give it a go and ordered the smallest entrecôte (sirloin rumpback?) on the menu. Oh. My. Gosh. I truly think that it was the best steak I've ever had. Argentine beef, apparently, is the best. Nancy showed me how to prepare/cook it and it was so EASY! I can't believe I was going to order shrimp! You HAVE to go to El Canto del Agua if you are in Torremolinos! And do the hot stone thing! You will not be sorry. Please say hello to Nancy for me!!!
