It's a good thing that I reconnoitred the location before taking my sweetie there. The are no…read moretables, no seats, no loo: all of their business is takeaway. So if you're looking for a place to dine out, this isn't it. That said, I got my sweetie some fish, chips, and coleslaw. She said that the fish and chips were very good. (I asked her if it was as good as the battered cod at Wimpy, and she said, "No, but it's still very good!") She was much, much less happy with the coleslaw. She couldn't bring herself to eat it, so I'm taking off a star for that. Still, as long as you're not looking for coleslaw with your fish (or chicken), Mr Cod would be a good choice.

I would happily drive half hour from my home town to buy from Mr Cods. Or Coddies as we all know it…read moreas. I share everything that has been said in the previous review but I need to make it clear to one and all that if you eat in High Wycombe, like good value and tasty food, then this is the place for you. If you like good chips, not those frilly slimline tonic things you get from McDonalds, and you like them fat, soft, tasty and cooked almost to perfection then you seriously need to get in the queue and order away. I've never been in there for longer than 5 minutes and I always come out with a sad fat man smile just desperate to sit down and chomp away. They do awesome sauce / dips. If Curry is your thing, make sure you don't come away without ordering it. If spicy is your thing, then make sure you tell em (ring sore so I hear!!). They have a numbered board as you enter the shop 1 to about 16 (they keep adding things). Number 1 is my fave chicken burger and large chips (ol yes thank you) Dr Pepper drink and mild curry sauce. I used to love number 9 which I believe is 4 chicken strips coated in a spicy mix. It used to repeat during my sleep (apparently) and doing the swap has definitely saved me from divorce. Women eh? LOL I wish you all well and hope this has given you a good understanding what I think of the take away. At the end of the day it is only a fish and chip shop that sells lots of chicken?!? but believe me, one visit and no other will get a look in. Great value, great taste and its fun watching the lads who work there racing around trying to keep up with demand. Happy Eating, Churchie!!

I have to admit that, when I first got to High Wycombe and saw that there was a KFC in town, I made…read morea mental note NOT to go there because the KFC where I live is, well, a crushing disappointment compared to what KFC once was. However, circumstances kind of forced me to go get some chicken, and I was very pleasantly surprised. Unlike the one where I live, this location has corn on the cob, so that was a plus. (I didn't see what Americans call biscuits on the menu, and while my sweetie loves her biscuits, at least I could get her the corn.) More importantly, the chicken was actually good. I think it says something that there was a queue at the counter when there are four other chicken places within a block.

Place had been smartened up since I last went and was clean and bright with good seating and no sign of rubbish anywhere. Service was quick even though quite a queue and very friendly. But have they changed something fundamental to the taste? The fries looked good in every respect but had a distinct smell and taste I didn't recognise. Some fancy healthy cooking oil perhaps? The smell reminded me of soap powder so not keen on that. The chicken was OK but again seemed to taste different although I did have "original". So quite disappointing visit for me but if you are a fan you'll have few complaints from this branch.

Waiters are always attentive to customers needs and offer all the usual beers and wines. On to the important stuff - the food. Always at a high standard, the starters and the mains are always great. Especially yummy are the naan's which I recommend (pasanda's especially great). Desserts are not great, although if you manage to eat a dessert you clearly haven't eaten enough on the mains and have missed the point of an Indian. Close to the station and taxi ranks, a yummy meal out.

I can't say I've ever heard a server say they had other things to do that appeared to supersede taking an order until tonight! There were only 3 other tables filled at the time and as I watched his activity upon leaving, he returned to his napkin folding... anyway... I had butter chicken which was surprisingly sweet with coconut flavors, not quite what I expected but was well prepared. The papadums came out with 5 dips, a nice assortment and the rest of our curries and starters were enjoyable. Plus £13 for a bottle of decent house wine went down well. A hearty and tasty meal at a decent price, I'd come back if in the area, however I'd likely pick a more traditional curry and steer clear of Mr chip on his shoulder!
