Having left my roommates back home in Philadelphia to visit Germany for a week last winter, I decided it would only be right to bring them something from my journeys. Many nights back at home would end with us all together in the kitchen, cups of sleepytime tea in hand. It seemed only appropriate when I came across this wonderful shop that this be the token of my travels which they could all enjoy.
Here I am thinking that I am bringing home the goodness of faraway lands until in searching for this shop on Yelp, realize that it is actually an internationally known store...in fact, there are two locations in New York City alone. Neither here nor there, I did not let my newfound knowledge deter my ranking as this store is well above par for any tea shops at home in Philadelphia. There are over 250 types of tea to choose from and the store is also home to any and all tea-making equipment you may need from nets to saucers to thermometers.
The employee in the store and myself tried very hard to break down the language barrier so that I could find something just right to travel home with, my German is dismal and her English was enough that even through the thick accents on both ends were able to find two delicious white teas. I wish that I could have brought more home with me, but when you have 250+ choices, you have to draw the line. At least now that I know I can order online or even visit a store on my next trip to New York, I won't have to worry about not trying what I couldn't the last time. read more
