We camp here with our Toyhauler a couple times a year, during the camping season. We have friends…read morethat have a Seasonal site here, which is why we come out here. The campground is very well maintained. The campground is situated around a decent sized, rectangular shaped clean lake, with open fields around the campground, and Highway (Route 6), runs next to it, at the North end of the campground. The campground caters to the seasonal campers here, but it does have limited sites open to weekenders. The seasonal campers that I've met have been really nice. It's usually quite here, a great place to take kids to, as they can't really get into trouble, or go to far away. The lake is clean, with a little beach, 2 floating decks for the kids to play on. They also rent paddle boats and life jackets too. They have a small play area for the kids to have fun in. The showers are clean, they have a small general store/office that usually has what you may need. If not, Wal-mart is only about 1.5 miles away, as are other stores and restaurants. I suggest that you call and make reservations though, because they do fill up on weekends with different events going on in the area. And like I said, they don't have many open spots for weekend campers here, First come~First served.

Checked out 2 other camp sites before choosing turtle creek. The reason we chose turtle creek is for a few reasons. The primitive camping is not smack dab right in the middle of campers and rvs like the other 2 were and turtle creek was much cleaner then the others and turtle creek was CHEAPER then the other two. Turtle creek has both flushing and non flushing toilets...both VERY clean and updated paint. They also have a washer and dryer to use along with a few fish cleaning station. The campers were quite after 10 like posted and long term campers were friendly to day campers. It is a pet friendly camp site as well. Very nice camp ground with friendly helpful staff. There is a swing set and trails to walk or ride a bicycle. A shelter house is handicapped accessible with a party room and a porch with picnic tables. The view of the river here is one of the best. The river is wide. There's a dam that has a good flow of water for fishing. As a kid Dad took our boat through the canal locks which looks like you can still do that. Don't forget a walk to the village of Grand Rapids. It's only .2 miles and it's a destination with cute shops and eateries. A campground and boat ramp are just to south of the park.

The staff is wonderful, very helpful and friendly and will go out of their way to help you. They ARE very pet friendly, (we have two cats and a dog) you just have to clean up after your pets and keep them on a leash. The bathrooms are clean and air-conditioned. The grounds are very well maintained and they have pump out service for a small fee (if you get a site that doesn't have septic) and RV service and repair. They installed our new air conditioner and did a fantastic job. They also have fun events here. We will be staying here every time we come to Ohio. Don't be fooled by a poor review. This park is awesome. You should definitely check it out.

We are adults here and know that a new camper does not get damaged all by itself! We trusted you to do a job professionally and you failed miserably. Yes we are the Bauser's that had the new warranty fridge work done at your so called place of business. Did I say NEW WARRANTY WORK??? Meaning new camper!!! Us as adults are telling you that your service people messes up our camper inside wall from the fridge installation and must I remind you we are the customer! And you call us and tell us your people done nothing and there is nothing you can do about it??? Us being the customer and knowing we have a new product with no problems with our camper when we let you have it to work on it an now we have damaged walls done by your people. Do you understand this now or do I need to say it again? Now I do know personally some others that have had their campers also messed up by your place of business. Does this sound like a rerun to you also hearing if from others who trusted you??? That means that your track record is not real good on messing up campers at your business. The camp host, John, was extremely helpful on providing where to find the nearest gas station. He offered me food and welcomed me in. He's the prime example of genuine hospitality. The campsite and bathroom were very clean. John is very attentive and you can see the care he puts into his work. Also, he has 25 years of experience with welding! In the near future, I'll be taking my family here. It's next door to sisters and close to east of Salem.
