Excellent service from Ted! Pleasant, fair. You call, he tells you what the fare will be, he shows up. The go-to taxi for me for East Hampton! It can be a bad situation taxi-wise out here. In mid-summer as many as seven to nine "taxis" meet incoming trains from NYC, ALL with varying rates. As if anyone with wheels can run a taxi! There is no fare consistency. This summer competitor Carlos was $15 for one mile. then S18. Then $20. Now wants $24. For one mile! And is very snippy. Not Ted! He runs a black Tesla, knows the area, is concerned you get to your destination safely and quickly. Definitely the dependable Hampton taxi service to use. read more

Don't. Uber is out there folks. So is Lyft. Came out to East Hampton last night for the holidays and used Ted's. Shady charging practices, not up front about prices, and RIDICULOUSLY HIGH charges. Beat up cars. FWIW: It was a LOCAL who called (After we had a fight about using Uber vs local) and they still screwed him. Shame on them for screwing over their own people. Went to the Hamptons for a wedding weekend and used Ted's to transport 7 people back and forth to a few different events in different towns on the South Fork. Ted's Taxi was on time and relatively reasonably priced. Would 100% used them again if in a similar situation. read more

Got in cab in Montauk. Standard price in Montauk is $5/person within town. He told all 7 of us ($35 trip) that it is $10/person once we were over half way home. This is because "we're an east Hampton based company. I can give it to you for $7/person to be nice". Let's not act like you don't go between Hampton towns all the time. I felt very taken advantage of. $35 for a 2 mile ride is pretty outrageous to begin with, but it's par for the course here. To up it to $49 for no reason without giving us the option when we got in... Unfair and unethical. Never again. read more

Teds an idiot. He refused my business because I called 2 times to inquire about a fare and pick up time. When I called the 3rd time to confirm the reservation he will not take my reservation because he's too busy right now and didn't like that I was checking rates with other taxis services. read more

I've had at least a hundred bad taxi rides out in East Hampton with all of the taxi companies out here (they're perpetually rude, late, or just don't show up) but the streak has ended! Dispatch was incredibly helpful and my driver could not have been nicer. Ted's Taxi is the way to go! read more

I learned a lesson today - calling for a taxi and having it show up are two different things!! The service I chose never showed and with just 10 minutes to get to the East Hampton jitney I knew I was screwed. I called Ken's and was told as much but with luck we might intercept it at Wainscott. We did and Mat (the driver) literally pulled in front of the bus!! I won't use any other service in the future. read more

They are the most reliable taxi service in East Hampton. We've used them 5-6 times to take us to the Jitney, and they have always arrived at the requested time. The drivers are courteous and friendly. They are the only people we will use out here. read more

I called, they said they would be here in 15 minutes. 45 minutes later I call back and they're telling me I didn't leave a number after my number should show up automatically in their system, it was completely public. Just another excuse for them disregarding customers, terrible. How hard is it to commit to someone then go pick them up within 30 minutes? The price was quoted as $30. Then when we got to my destination, it suddenly becomes $35. There was even a request for a tip on the sig pad so - as the driver was nice, helpful- I didn't wanna slight her. In the end, it was $40 and change to go from Bridge to Sag Harbor, a 12-15 minute trip with perhaps a 5-minute wait. On a Sunday afternoon in off peak at May. Same price as first class service bus from Hamptons to the city. I sure hope I don't ever need a cab again. read more

I called Ted's taxi to arrange for a pickup for a friend of mine who was coming in on the jitney. I offered to pay for it, twice over, so that my friend wouldn't have any trouble when she arrived after a long flight. While giving the gentleman who picked up the phone my credit card number, we were interrupted a couple of times by a loud radio call that came in on his end and another call on his end. After reading the credit card number to him the second time he suddenly said "I don't want to deal with this" AND HUNG UP. I called back and he was incredibly rude. Yes, taxi services in East Hampton are limited, but this was beyond the pale. read more

We are very pleased with Teds taxi. They can be a few minutes late (traffic in the Hamptons is terrible) so bear that in mind when you make your reservation. Fares are reasonable and based on the number of people on the ride - not like N.Y. city cabs. They are reliable, good drivers, courteous. read more

Most taxi services I've used in EH are shoddy to say the least. However, had a great experience with Ted's today and Matt (my driver) was awesome! Professional, polite and even funny! Will definitely be using them/Matt again! read more

I had a horrible experience with Ted's Taxi this week and felt taken advantage of. The ride was 7 - 8 minutes from Wainscott to Sagaponack. About 3 minutes into the drive I inquired what the rate was for myself, my 7 year old and her friend (admittedly I should have inquired first) . He quoted $30. I asked to speak to the owner and as soon I questioned the fare he told me to get out of the taxi right now. I told him I would pay the $30 fare (I did not want to be left on the side of the highway after 7pm with two young children). The driver was nice (and I detect seemed just as shocked that I had to pay $30) unfortunately his body odor was so bad the three of us could barely breathe and the windows only opened in the front. I welcome more competition i.e. Via, Ubur, Juno, Lift etc. When customers are treated this poorly it will open the door to more change. Everyone please reach out to your Congressmen/ women. If NYC opened their doors to a better transportation experience, Suffolk County should as well. read more

I had never heard of a taxi service that refuses to pick up before 7 am. But I do now. Ted's Taxi drivers are not reliable if you need to catch an early flight or train. These drivers could never cut it in NYC. This is why Uber is the way to go! read more
