I'm no photographer, but I can assure you "Ted's" has all your photography needs on hand. Having dated a budding photographer for four years, Ted's was his weapon of choice and since he's doing fashion photography in London right now, maybe he should drop Ted some royalties.
It really is a great store. Every time my ex needed a lens piece or some obscure part of a camera he'd come here. Over time, the selection at Ted's has continued to flourish. There's a lot of stuff for those who aren't photographers and just want a mid-range, does-the-job-well camera. The store also offers The PowerShot D10, apparently Canon's first waterproof compact digital camera for underwater photography up to 10 metres. This was recommended as an ideal present for kids (at just $549.95 a pop!), which made me giggle. I'd think such an item would be more suited to scuba divers.
Ted's staff are ultra, ultra friendly. They're friendly to the point where they'll sometimes chat to customers when a queue is forming, causing a few in the line to look disgruntled. Inevitably the disgruntled types are purchasing something simple (printed digital photos), which makes me think if they hate busy stores with queues so much they should go elsewhere. There's many digital photography printing stores in Brisbane's CBD, such as in the Myer Centre.
Back in the day, Ted's had discounts for students. I'm not sure if that is the case any longer. What Ted's does have currently is a ClubTed program including a free $10 voucher with any purchase over $20 and you are also entitled to member pricing on all printing services.
ClubTed also runs competitions for budding photographers, so if think you have what it takes to produce a beautiful image than why not jump on board? read more
