I knew of two studios in London that totally encompassed the above, now I know of three. Special Yoga Centre is indeed special. They are a full time studio running a huge variety of yoga styles seven days a week. On top of classes there are an impressive selection of workshops covering spiritual and holistic sessions to entice the most ardent hippie. So whether you want yoga, meditation, therapy or an afternoon of chanting, you'll find it here. The studios themselves are full of equipment for yogi's, heated to a comfortable temperature and very picturesque. Classes cost a little over £10 depending on what you do, whilst monthly contracts are around £75 for an open ticket to practice when you please. At the moment they are running a 10 day open pass for £10 which is mind-bogglingly good value for money. Special Yoga Centre has to be in the top five centres in London. Great place.

It was rush, rush, rush, and some people on the staff were obnoxious, bullying, or just unpleasant generally. You can definitely learn a fair amount technically, ( If that's all you want!) but trust me, there's about one job available for every 200 graduates. Believe me, I was at it forever, and I am noted for a pleasant, low-key, very professional attitude! There just aren't any jobs opening in today's scene, where professionals usually have home studios. You literally will get nothing back for your money except heartache and broken dreams, and then have to look for a straight job anyway. They promised me employment assistance that they never delivered. Audio production and recording is truly just a who you know business. If you're 18 years old with no responsibilities and willing to work for snack crackers for 2 to 5 years and you know someone who can get you through the door to begin with - go for it! And that's literally what a staff member told me when I pressed him, but only after I had reached the end of the courses! Do yourself a favor: Spare yourself shelling out that kind of money, download a very nice free computer based DAW, get whatever interfaces, etc. you might need with all that cash you kept, and hip yourself to the many professional Youtube channels and videos, where I guarantee you will learn 100 times more than you ever will at anyone's scam recording school, and at your own pace at that! I'm not joking, I know the difference! And in the end, trust me, you'll be just as likely to find a job or not. I wish I had known what I know now then, and I would have never given them my hard earned money. I would have taken up a trade. Think long before you do it, and good luck!

The main reason I moved to London back in 2001 was to study at LAMDA. This is predominantly a drama…read moreschool, but I had been accepted for the 2 year Stage Management & Technical Theatre Course. I was expecting so much from this course, I was really looking forward to studying here. It seemed really hands one, which I preferred and what drew me to the course but I was disappointed within months of studying here. The most important thing that prospective students should know about the Stage Management course is that the school *do not* encourage you to work outside the course as it is very demanding. This is hard if you've just moved to London, have spent thousands of pounds on fees and have no extra money to live on. I found this really taxing on both my freedom and my wallet! The actual course itself had elements I did actually enjoy like the museum trips and the visits to other theatres and getting to see all the action backstage. There were far too many boring / technical elements to the course, which I really didn't enjoy. I felt the course could have been a little more creative - the art and audio elements of the course were really enjoyable. Overall, the lack of creativity bored me and the controlling element (the fact you are expected to give up work and a social life!) really annoyed me, so much so that I left within 4 months. If you are totally set on being a Stage Manager, then you should come here. They have good contacts and a solid reputation. Their drama course produces really talented actors and is not to be scoffed at but if you agree to all my points about, you should really think about applying elsewhere...
