The paver work will last 50 years, the bushes he selected were large and lush and even bigger than I first selected, everything is well placed and level! The sod work was excellent, they cleaned up everything from gravel in the street and yard to any trash or mess each night. For the Sod, they hand and shovel removed the old weeded areas without pesticides and made sure the earth was properly prepared with a layer of sod dirt before they laid it down. Third job: (Last fall) paid for manual pulling/removal of Bermuda grass from garden beds, plus weed control and mulch. Emphasis on manual removal - explicitly was told they would pull all the Bermuda out manually to get all the roots out. Took a bit of chasing around to get them to actually get it on the books, and then when they did come they just buzzed everything with a string trimmed and sprayed weed killer over that. We agreed to still pay the full price on the condition that Gairy would send a team out in the spring once the Bermuda woke up and inevitably came through the mulch since it wasn't removed. He agreed, and we left it at that. Flash forward to this year and has completely ghosted us and been non-responsive. Even tried asking about having a bunch of other services added so that it wouldn't be a totally free trip, but still No luck. We finally gave up on any hope of getting the promised services, hired Mr. Outdoor Living, dropped like $4K on services with them instead and will be sticking with them next year when we do a sprinkler system and stone retaining walls.

He communicated well, always let me know if he couldn't make it on a scheduled day, and still showed up within a couple of days. The lawn work was solid, and I had no complaints. This year, however, has been a completely different story. * Lane offered me a seasonal contract at a great rate. I paid him up front, trusting him based on last year's service. * After taking my money, he never showed up--not once. * He responds to some of my messages, ignores others. * He's repeatedly said he'd refund me "at the end of the week," but I've seen no refund and no real effort to make it right. One time, he even told me he was on his way to mow the lawn. An hour passed, I checked in, and he casually replied "no" and because his lawnmower broke, but he had already been on the way. This kind of behavior has happened more than once. Lane comes across as friendly and dependable at first, but he has not followed through on a single promise this season. I'm writing this review to warn others: don't get taken in like I did.

I was pleased with the quality of the work he performed, and that is one of the reasons I continued using his services and supported his business. Unfortunately, my complaint is not about the quality of his lawn work. My complaint concerns the handling of my money and a commitment he made to me in writing. After lawn service was promised on July 29, July 31, and again on August 1, 2026, but was not completed, Zak agreed to refund me a total of $132.00. On August 2, he wrote, "You will be receiving your $80 back for the cut," confirmed that he would also return the additional $52, and then stated, "I have processed your return and you will receive your refund within the next two weeks." I took Zak at his word. I did not continue calling or contacting him. I respectfully waited the full two weeks he requested. As of August 24, 2026, I still had not received the promised $132.00 refund. For me, this has now become an issue of integrity, honesty, accountability, and honoring one's word. When a business owner tells a customer in writing that a refund has been processed and gives a specific timeframe for receiving it, I believe the customer should be able to rely on that commitment. As a senior citizen, retired federal government employee, and retired U.S. Marine with 21 years of service, integrity and keeping one's word mean a great deal to me. I can acknowledge that Zak does outstanding lawn work, while at the same time being deeply disappointed with how this financial matter has been handled. I am sharing my personal experience fairly and factually so other consumers can make their own informed decisions. My request remains simple: honor the written commitment and return the $132.00 that was promised to me.
