During that time we didn't feel like we had the kind of care that we were looking for. She needed additional therapy and we chose Family Care Plus Therapy and Wellness, Sachin Desai. I worked with him in his marketing and also knew him as a member of the Burton Chamber of Commerce. He has always told me that he works one on one with each and every one of his patients. I really wanted my mom to have that kind of care. From the first day Sachin told her exactly what to expect and worked with her one on one. He is a very caring person and very thorough. He not only worked on her shoulder he worked with the whole person, reminding her to stand and get her bearings before she takes her first steps, (she has had one knee replacement and will need another in the future). He also would work on her hands, (she has really bad arthritis in them). He worked with her on all of her issues. He was very encouraging, he would say, "Dorothy, I think you can do a few more." She has really improved. I cannot say enough about the wonderful care that we got from Family Care Plus. My mother was very excited when she realized that she could wash under her left arm without using the sponge on the stick. It is the small things in life that we celebrate but this was a big improvement for her. She can now reach over her head without thinking about it. She has come so far. I would recommend Sachin and his staff to anyone who needs to have physical therapy. He is the best. He has a staff of two students but he did all of her therapy one on one. I wasted my time by going twice. The physical therapy i received from Dane was not much better. He would talk sports with his coworkers. I felt I was in a locker room. The last 20 minutes of Danes shift he would put me on a stationary bike and leave out the back door. Having no movement in my left foot and leg, my foot would fall off the pedal and I would have to sit there and wait for another Therapist to put my foot back on the pedal. I felt like I was a chore that had to be delt with. The Therapist were just going through the motion.

This was my first experience with any physical therapy so I wasn't sure at first, but I just didn't feel I was progressing as much as I should have been. After those few weeks there, I left them and went to a new physical therapy facility, where I learned just how unhelpful DPT's work with me had been. I thought that was the end of my dealings with them. However, they recently (May 2019), sent me a bill stating I still owe them $443! I had not heard a word from them since I made what they said was my last copay payment in June 2018. By that time, I'd paid them a total of $570, which they told me covered all of my copayments and co-insurance. Since receiving this new bill, I've spent quite a bit of time on the phone with my insurance company and DPT's billing department at their main office in Illinois. They even wound up talking with each other while I was on the line. The final verdict is that the physical therapist I saw at DPT was not in my insurance's network until October 2018 - my last appt with her was 6 months before that in April 2018!! So what DPT had been telling me were copays were just their full prices, from what I understand. My insurance company told me they did not cover them, despite the fact that I was told by DPT the entire time I was their patient that my insurance was covering my visits - and even made to wait for appts "until further insurance authorizations" came through a couple of times. I feel completely lied to and swindled by this place. My advice: STAY AWAY!!! Go to a physical therapist who won't lie to get extra money out of you, while not correctly treating your problems. According to their billing department, I do owe this $443, it just "took them several months to figure it out." My options are to pay it or have it sent to collections...where it will show up against me on my credit report, which I've worked hard to bring up these past few years. Based on my experience with this company, I truly consider them to be cheats who take advantage of patients with little knowledge about physical therapy and billing with the insurance. This has been a very expensive lesson for me to learn to be less naive and trusting of what a medical facility says. From now on I'll know to double check with my insurance company every step of the way for any medical treatments.

Dave had me working out the kinks doing several different exercises that hurt but helped get my flexibility back after 2 weeks of therapy. Dave had me applying heat and ice for the time he was treating me after I had done my exercises. Dave also did traction and tens unit to increase blood flow to the hurt area to increase blood circulation and help heal my injury faster. Everything Dave and his team did got me back to 100% and I couldn't have expected the injury to heal that fast. The facility is well kept and clean and they have a fantastic staff. 9 tables or stations for patients and no waiting. I would drive 60 miles out of my way to see Dave and his staff. They bring everything together to get you ready to live a quality life without pain.
