This school is actually not so bad. The review created by Ricardo L. sounds as if his child wrote it. How would you know what was quoted by a teacher unless you were there present probably dealing with an issue with your own child. My understanding from this school by several parents and their children who attended this school, including myself, was that they were doing the best that they could possible to with what they had available to them. A lot of the kids who attended felt that they somehow were untouchable. They felt that they didn't have to follow rules and can talk back to the teachers constantly. There was little to no respect for teachers and staff. As far as students getting suspend for no reason, well how accurate can that be and if there was this problem going on, I wonder did you contact the school to question what was going on or were you relying on what your child would tell you. As far as only a small number of students being allowed to attend the eighth grade trip. The reason was that the students who were not allowed to attend did not get to attend for a reason. Did you ever find out? Contact the school? Did you not like what they had to say about you child? Whether it was not having the sufficient grades or behavioral problems. Most certainly your child was one of the kids that skipped school and went to the 8th grade trip anyways without the schools permission but with parents permission. This is how you enable your child to break the rules and not follow procedures and once again feeding your child with the belief that he or she is untouchable. It is not a right to attend any extra activities, it is earned and a privilege. I've walked into this school and witnessed first hand how students were being so disrespectful to the teachers and to other students. Most parents have no idea the way their kids act and behave when you are not around. You are right when you say that the staff and teachers need further training on how to deal with how kids are nowadays, but also, it starts at home. Parents need to teach their children to follow the rules and respect their teachers. And to Caroyn R., tell me just how involved were you in your child's school? Were you part of the parenting organization? read more
