My Experience with ERES for Evaluating My Guatemalan Teaching Credential…read more I sent my Guatemalan Maestra en Educación Preprimaria credential and transcripts to ERES for a course-by-course evaluation so I could apply for a California Child Development Permit. The evaluation came back showing my credential as only equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma, with zero Early Childhood Education (ECE) semester units recognized. This means none of my specialized teacher training counted toward the California requirement. I contacted ERES twice for clarification, but both times the only option given was to pay for a re-evaluation. No detailed explanation was provided for why my post-secondary teacher training was not recognized. This experience has been disappointing and costly, and it has affected my ability to continue in a job I enjoy. If you have similar credentials from Guatemala or a comparable education system, I would avoid using ERES unless you confirm in writing beforehand that your program will be recognized for ECE credit. This review is based on my personal experience and the documents I received from ERES.

I left San Jose at around 2pm, arrived at 3:30pm and expected we would have to wait until Tuesday which would have been tight. The whole staff was friendly and multi lingual. Thank you !

The workers were polite, from the gentleman at the desk and the proctor lady. I pulled up around 7.45, 15 minutes to spare for my 8am test. I got in the building (was not locked), I knew it was the second floor based on my research prior to coming, shot up the elevator, saw their "pearson vue candidate testing" sign outside the door and I checked in. The person was polite, gave me a number, told me to read instructions, took my pictures, put my stuff in the locker and waited another minute. Proctor called my number shortly, she too, was polite. Had me empty pockets, pat my myself, and off we were into my cubicle. I took my test and voila! NREMT certified. They told me my results will be ready same day and it was ready within 3 hours. Overall, had a great experience. 5 stars.

I was repeatedly harassed by staff there who refused to accept the ID but would not explain what the issues was. They repeatedly referenced a confidential policy and would not allow me to see it and made circular arguments. I'm filing a civil rights complaint against them with the state of California, so we'll see what happens with that, but staff there were so unprofessional and so uncivil that I can honestly say that I'm not sure if I have ever experienced anything like it in what I would consider an academic environment. Absolutely unbelievable.

February 11, 2026, a rainy day in downtown Sacramento. Around 10am it was sunny out now it's back…read moreto being gloomy and raining every so slightly, but enough to wet my glasses and a need for some mini windshield wipers. This weather has brought me inside to shied myself from the rain. The Department of Education is located on the Corner of Capital Park near the rose garden. It was built in 2002. It is the first state office building to incorporate an underfloor air-distribution system and is the state's first design-build office building. At least 25% of the building includes recycled materials, the lobby's marble floors were salvaged from the Library & Courts Building, circa 1923. They received the Leed Gold in 2003 for being a U.S. Green Building. In 2006 they received the Leed EB Platinum award. What does that all mean? The California Department of Education's green building efforts align with the California Green Building Standards Code (See Title 24, Part 11). This code sets mandatory measures for public schools and community colleges, covering energy efficiency, water conservation, material use, and environmental quality ICC Digital Codes. As an example, new or major renovations must meet specific performance standards for lighting, HVAC, insulation, and site design. For more information google cal green info. It's got nice architecture. Next time I'll take some pictures of the architecture. Today I just focused on the public space inside, the lobby. The lobby is toasty warm compared to the outside and there is a nice sitting area on the side of the wide-open windows. The windows are nearly floor to ceiling. To keep you safe they have a stand for purell hand sanitizer, but at the same time there is a sign that says don't touch the artwork. On the outside walking in there is a warning that weapons and all sharp objects are prohibited. They have 2 giant murals up. Transforming California Schools: Superintendent's Initiatives and the 50th Anniversary of the individual with disabilities education act. They have a small sign about Save Our Water. If you are a visitor you are instructed to sign in with security with a photo id. Jud Fine is the creator of the artwork in the lobby. It's of a beautiful lizard and a ball or pendulum hanging from the ceiling.

SETUP CPS (not to be confused with Child Protective Services, a different agency altogether) provides a number of different paths to ensure that our training needs are met using 21st Century standards of eLearning. Included in the mission of CPS is to provide it's clients the latest in many different employee & training theories, included, but not limited to, the following: * COMPETENCY MODELING * WORKFORCE PLANNING * SUCCESSION PLANNING * ORGANIZATIONAL ASSESSMENT, REDESIGN AND RE-ENGINEERING * PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT * CAREER DEVELOPMENT SYSTEMS * EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT * EMPLOYEE RELATIONS * CHANGE MANAGEMENT; and, * STRATEGIC PLANNING ONLINE ORIENTATION Most recently, CPS has created a series of "Online Orientations" - a series of stand-alone eLearnings - that are taking the place of live in-class orientations that were mainly done by our field staff, but now can be accessed 24/7 online from our Department (Community Care Licensing Division) website. This helps us gain back efficiencies by having field staff dedicated their time to licensing monitoring & enforcement in the field (where they are really needed most to follow-up on complaints) instead of having to spend time in the office conducting these orientations. All-in-all, a great result for all-around thanks to these innovative eLearning technologies that CPS brings to the table. THE LOWDOWN An EXCELLENT training center resource for our Department's mandated functions.

Additionally, they were late in sending information after the application period had closed. I was unable to follow the directions in the late email as the link did not work. Also, the final email they send before the assessment process was very late and hardly left the opportunity to prepare. Literally, the information was sent out 12 hours before interviews. I wasn't impressed and expected more for a company tasked with recruiting for vital positions. Considering their role is to assist the employer with finding candidates and the overall testing process to find the most qualified, you would think they would have their stuff together and make the process smoother.
