How wonderful to find a sweet sushi joint within walking distance from the Marriot Hotel. After reading its glowing reviews, we gave it a shot. I decided to make reservations the day of being that it was Valentines Day. Thank goodness I did! This little restaurant had no more than 10 tables.
We were greeted by a sweet German lady who spoke English (phew)! We began with some sushi rolls and miso soup with a side of rice. Loved every bite of it... Especially the crispy rolls that were covered in tempura pieces...mmmmmm!
As far as their sashimi, the quality was on par and it was definitely fresh and not "stringy/veiny."
They're udon noodles were good, too. The portion was large and a good variety of veggies accompanied it. After tasting the soup, I knew it was a Chinese chef who made it. This was definitely a Chinese soup base, not Japanese. No matter.. Still tastes yummy!
I was a bit disappointed to see their only desert was a Japanese moon cake. In my head, I was expecting a Chinese moon cake but it turned out to be Mochi. Japanese rice flour candy with a filling inside. You can buy these at any Japanese supermarket or bakery. I've never heard them referred to as "moon cake." Maybe this is a German term??! Who knows.
All in all, it's still 5 stars. Good, friendly service, good quality, tasty flavored, and modern, clean decor. Wish it was in my neck of the woods :/ read more
