Respectful and understood my concerns. My problem is with the owner. I want to clarify that I never stated the first cut was a fabrication error on your end -- I acknowledged that I provided measurements based on my own calculations. My issue is not that additional labor has value. My issue is communication and transparency. When I called and was told to bring the legs back the next morning, at no point was I informed that returning would result in a second full $50 charge. If I had been told upfront, I would have made an informed decision before driving back and before the work was performed. Instead, the additional charge was only brought to my attention after the service was already completed, and I was told payment was required before my items could be released. I also asked if the second charge could be discounted and was told no. I'm glad the employee was helpful and fixed the legs quickly, but the way the second charge was handled felt unexpected and unfair. A simple upfront explanation of pricing before starting the work would have prevented this entire situation.

We were originally looking for 2 short handrails, but when Phil came to give an estimate he saw the situation and my mother in law's need for a safer egress. He suggested a railing that she could comfortably use from the moment she opens the front door. Phil's quote for the project was EXTREMELY fair and reasonable. And the fact that they forge their own railings gives you the comfort of knowing you are dealing with one company that stands behind every step of the work. To top off the whole experience, Phil showed real compassion by having his workers make the railing as quickly as he could because he realized that the railing was so needed for safety. We called PMF II because we had previously used the company to replace an indoor railing for our son's house. That job was completed with the same regards for safety and a beautiful addition to the house. I would highly recommend Iron Works of LI as an honest, competent and reliable company. Picked up my grille trim that I wanted done in black chrome. I was very disappointed in the…read moreworkmanship. You can run your hand over the piece and feel all the raised dimples. The piece was brand new when I brought into the shop and came back with underlying scratches beneath the finish. I was promised 2 weeks job would be done-it took 5 weeks and for the amount I paid was a complete waste. I had to reorder a new piece from the dealer and will just leave it in factory chrome. Do yourself a favor and avoid aggravation and go somewhere else. If I could give zero stars I would that's how bad this place is.

Just a few months ago we had Carlos install new railings on our rear stoop, we also had them powder coated for long years of life too. Carlos is fair with his prices and does excellent work, I recommend him!
