They wouldn't make change for a $100 bill for me, you're a bank. Absolutely Pathetic.

I looked at him and had to ask are you going to help us or not? By the way, still no greeting from the young slickster. Does not even introduce himself, does nothing resembling customer experience at all. The manager really should can this guy. By the way there are three of them talking like it is a cafeteria so there is no reason to not greet or provide any customer experience whatsoever. Throughout the experience his facial expression is one of my brother and I inconveniencing him...All good. I will keep this review alive... Hopefully the manager is better than this...You don't need an employee like this to bring your scores (CSAT) down. Apparently, my brother went to the Chase on Route 4 which had a really pleasant staff and provided a higher level of experience and service. If I could give a zero I would...Thankfully my brother chided me to hold my tongue while we were there as I was ready to go into full "get me someone who knows how to work with customers professionally" mode. To the manager get this guy in the front cube out of your branch...Piss poor in every way possible. If I could have given a negative score I would have.

I had thought I was on a list with another branch and forgot to inquire about them at this particular location. I called at 11:40AM and asked and was told "Absolutely we have ones available, what time would you like to come in?" I was told that the representative had a few appointments and whatever worked for her would be fine, I was told 1PM. That's not bad! I went in was done 20 minutes later. The representative that was supposed to help me was tied up with another client and someone else helped be, but he was equally as helpful and very friendly. Most of that 20 minutes was spent just BSing about things. Sure banks are businesses and will bend over backwards to get your money, but there's customer service and then just people that don't care. These people are very friendly and you can tell that they're genuine, not faking it to make you feel good!

Very unprofessional and rude customer service…read more On a recent trip to the Fair Lawn Ave branch I needed to ask for a money order. Although I haven't done this in a couple years, I used to need a money order every month for about three years. Every month for three years (probably 30-40 visits) I went to the bank and needed a money order. I was never charged a fee. Last week the teller, who seemed to be in training, told me it would be $5 for an $80 money order. I tried to explain that I have never been charged for one before and wondered why, even if it is a new policy, it is so high? I believe WALMART issues money orders for about $2 charge, same for the US post office. Surely, Columbia Bank doesn't charge its only loyal customers such a high fee. I honestly suspected that it couldn't be correct. At this point, a "veteran" bank teller sitting at another desk behind him working on something else turned around and injected herself into our conversation. With a harsh tone she blankly said "You're wrong! We've ALWAYS had a charge for a money order!" --- I couldn't believe how she just thrust herself into the situation essentially. I said to her respectfully that I was certain I hadn't imagined years of coming to the bank every month and not being charged. She again repeated that I was wrong. At this point the bank "manager" came over. She calmly said to me that it is policy on some accounts to not charge and frequently exceptions are made to waive the fee. Now, admittedly, I was unhappy with the rude woman that had insisted I had imagined not paying. I asked her if she heard what the manager had said that it isn't ALWAYS a fee. She literally ROLLED HER EYES AT ME and scoffed. Nice. Very nice customer service. You would think a simple, "I'm sorry sir, I didn't realize that you might have been exempt from paying the fee." But no. The attitude and argumentative posture of this woman was about a half-step behind in professionalism from what I'd expect at a fast food drive thru. Why do they hire people like this and keep them around? The manager then waived my fee. I thanked the teller-in-training for helping me out and then stood there waiting for the "veteran" (rude) woman to acknowledge that a customer she had rolled her eyes in disgust a moment ago was actually correct about not having to pay the fee. She refused to look at me, but faced away at the wall (like a toddler) muttering to herself about something. I guess she took it personally that a loyal customer of 20+ years didn't have to pay $5 for a piece of paper. Nice customer service. I will not be returning to this branch. I have been noticing a serious decline at my regular branch for years. I do not wish to stay as a customer at this bank and plan to close all of my accounts and move them as soon as possible. Unbelievable that a simple trip to the bank to deposit some checks and get a money order turned into a situation that will result in losing a long-time customer. I know they struggle with overhead costs of real human tellers when so much of banking is done online now, but there is a still a real desire from many people to do banking business in-person. Columbia needs to respect these customers and hire knowledgeable professionals who understand the value of customer service. Their current dregs won't be enough.

The people are great, accommodating, and the reason we switched all our banking from Bank of America to Atlantic Stewardship Bank (Taken over by Columbia). The main office may act as if they value your business but their actions prove otherwise. Your money is as unsafe at Columbia as it is at a Bank of America. From closing a tenant account at random to helping a less than reputable leasing company continue to access funds then getting upset at the customer when their efforts get the slightest criticism rest assured Columbia will be more than happy to add to your daily stress. At the moment Columbia has me over the proverbial barrel but when the opportunity arises my business and personal accounts will find a more reputable bank.

Whenever I called ASB, Waldwick branch, I always spoke with a branch manager or someone who could help be. Now the branch manager is never there and while the staff tires t help they cannot. My most recent issue is with the online bill pay. Our mortgage payment via online bill pay was late this month and it was explained to me (unsatisfactorily) that in the conversion our payment was changed from electronic to a check mailed to a PO Box because Columbia does not have an electronic relationship with our s=mortgage servicer. The person I spoke with in Customer Service is blaming the Post Office. Bottom line, where ASB was a customer-centric bank, Columbia is not. Be aware, do not bank with them. I am moving my accounts elsewhere tomorrow!!
