This branch has terrible customer service. Last week, I was using the ATM to make deposits. The security guard was just standing there next to me. No, not standing... leaning on the counter right next to me while I was trying to make my deposit. It was not only awkward and uncomfortable for me, but it made him (and the bank) look lazy and unprofessional. It's Copley. Not Upham's Corner. They need to step it up. This is what I wrote the branch manager about another experience:
Dear Ms. Andrews:
I'm writing to tell you of a very upsetting experience I had in your branch and with main customer service number. Last week, I called customer service to ask about setting up electronic payments to my staff through my business account. I was on-hold for over half an hour, so I decided to call the branch. I was directed to speak with your 'business representative', Rodrigo Molina. He said he wasn't exactly sure because he's new and that I should go on-line to look. He also said he couldn't help me because he's with a customer.
I went into my account and did some reading. It turns out there were three ways to set up electronic payments and the ACH would work best for me. I entered my information to set up the feature. At the end, I was instructed to contact customer service to complete the process. I called and was put on-hold for about 10 minutes, so I decided to call the branch. Again, I was routed to Rodrigo. I told him what I was trying to do. Again, he said he couldn't help because he's not familiar with the system (and that he was with a customer). I asked if he could find out and get back to me since I didn't have time to keep calling customer service. He said he was busy with a customer and had the audacity to suggest I go to another branch because there might be someone else there who's familiar with this situation. I was furious at this point. Not only could he not help me but was dismissive and completely unwilling to help. He also suggested I would spend my New Year's Eve walking around town trying to resolve this situation when he could have just made a few calls to figure things out for me.
At this point, I contacted customer service and was put on-hold for over half an hour only to be told by the customer service that I needed to go into the branch to verify my identity. I asked the representative to call Rodrigo to tell him what he needed to do when I got there because I didn't want anymore confusion on his end and I didn't want to call back and be put on-hold for another half hour. She was reluctant saying that it's not her "job to tell other people how to do their jobs", but she did it. She was on-hold for about 8 minutes and told me she couldn't hold much longer.
At that point, I called the branch using my conference call feature and got him on the phone. He sounded annoyed and said, "you interrupted my meeting with a customer". I insisted he needed to listen to the representative. Once he did, he said, "Oh is that all. I didn't understand what you wanted at first." I don't know what is so confusing about the question, "How do I set up electronic payments for my employees through my business online account?".
The customer service on the phone wasn't much helpful either. Firstly, I don't know why I needed to call them, to be placed on-hold for over half hour, only to be told I needed to contact the branch. Secondly, even after I'd explained to her the situation at the branch, she didn't seem willing to follow through on the situation so that I might not have to call back and be put on-hold for another half hour.
When I got into the branch later that afternoon to verify my identity, I walked up to the teller to let her know I was there to see Rodrigo. She looked around and said she didn't see him but would call him. I sat, waited and watched her. She didn't call him or anyone. She helped the others behind me. When he did come out, I introduced myself. Never once did he apologize for the inconvenience or the situation. I own a business, and I tell my staff that they should always acknowledge people's frustrations and apologize even if it's not their fault.
Clearly, this was a multi-systems issue. Rodrigo contributed to it by being uninformed/untrained, and by not taking the time to listen and help. He was very dismissive and patronizing. In all, it took over 4 hours just to set up the ACH feature which should have been an easy task if your staff were competent in giving me the right information and help I needed.
I have had this account for many years, and had some personal accounts prior to this. I began using TD Bank 1998 (before it was even TD Bank). The last two experiences I had in your branch were not positive ones. At this point, if I didn't have this account already linked to all of my clients' accounts, I would be switching over to another bank. Your customer service, particularly at your branch, is deplorable. My experience is consistent with the reviews about your branch on Yelp. read more
