Calling the number gets you an automated bot that repeats the same information every time you call (about signing up online for paperless even if you already have). Next the bot struggles to identify your problem and asks repeated questions. This is all after the online rep gave you the number to the department you needed to speak with. After three years the honeymoon is over and no one bothers to treat you as an individual and understand your goals.

I stopped in to get a Medallion Gold Signature Guarantee stamp on a private stock holding on which I was simply adding a Transfer On Death Beneficiary (TOD). After answering numerous questions from one of the office staff, I was told the paperwork would need to be "sent off" to senior management for review and that someone would get back to me in a few days. When I've requested similar signatures from other Fidelity locations in the past, I was able to obtain the signatures at the same time after answering the questions they had and providing the information they needed to confirm the legitimacy of the stock and the update. After a week and not hearing back, I reached out again. After being on hold for about 20 minutes while "they looked into it," I was told the manager had a question - was I simply updating the TOD or transferring the stock to Fidelity? I mentioned the former, which was the same answer I provided during my initial visit. I was then told someone would get back to me again in a few days. I asked if anyone there actually had the ability to sign a Medallion Gold Signature guarantee and was told yes, the staff could do it, but only after management made a review of the request and directed the staff to sign. It seems the one doing the signing of the guarantee would be the one asking for the information necessary to sign. I've given up and gone to another bank instead, where I obtained the necessary signature. I recently moved to the Woodlands area and was hoping to transfer my Fidelity management services to the location, but the "vibe" given off by the Woodlands location is that its just a bunch of kids staffing the office who don't do anything other than relay information to a corporate office located somewhere else. So, I guess I need to start considering use of investment services at a non-Fidelity location.
