Surprised at the other reviews that gave this location only one star. I've been banking with TCF, primarily at this location, for about 6 years. The customer service at this branch has always been terrific. Friendly and helpful, I've never not been able to get the help I need. The web access is pretty good, works fine, and the app is great! Can do all my banking, including cashing checks, right from the app. Hours the branch is open, while not as good as they used to be, are very convenient. read more

First off let me start by saying, this is the worst bank I have ever dealt with, I have have dealt with many banks. I opened this account just a little over a month ago. I opened it online and was told I would receive paperwork, my debit card, and my checks in the mail in 7-10 business days. Also I opened a student checking because there are no fees, Im currently in college and I don't have a bunch of extra cash to spend. I was also told my first set of checks would be free as well. About a week goes by and I don't receive anything in the mail so I call the customer service number and they tell me oh there has been a hold put on your account for proof of address you should be receiving a letter in the mail shortly. I said well can you just tell me what I need to do to fix it, she gave me the information to the closest branch which was in Lafayette, so I called and asked what I need to do, the lady on the phone said fax in some kind of paystub or something of the sort with your address on it. I said okay thats fine but I live in the mountains and i cannot get mail to my physical address only my po box. Which mind you, I informed a supervisor of this right away. So I faxed in all the paperwork two days after this call, which was still the end of the first week of opening an account. I called in right after I faxed in the paperwork to confirm the lady said she got everything and she was taking the block off my account and everything will be sent out within two business days. A week later nothing in the mail still, I called in and they said on the customer service line nothing had been sent out. At this point it has been two weeks and I have nothing. Long story short, I had to call in three more times to ask about my debit card and checks, finally got them two weeks ago. Over a month after I had the account open. The customer service of this company disgusts me. People are generally rude on the phone, they dont care about you. It is just their job. So about a week ago on the 15th I log into my account and see my account is negative $80.00 because they ended up charging my account $48.68 for my first set of checks, on top of the $7 shipping fee I had already paid in the beginning of opening my account. I had just had a check come through for $226 which I had the money for, then when the $48.68 goes through my account it makes it negative so they charge me a $37.00 insufficient funds fee, then decline my actual bill I paid of $226.00. Like I said this bank DISGUSTS ME. I then had to call in and report the problem of my checks supposed to be free for the first set, then they treated me like it was my fault and said we will fix everything but from now on in order to reverse the fees this has to be a bank error. At this point that one exact sentence made me pissed because it was a bank error. I should have never been charged the $50 for checks and if that was the case my account would have never went into negative, my check would have been paid and my account would be just find with a positive balance. I just moved her from Colorado and Im looking for a bank already after a month and a half. This was a big mistake, and like I said the worse bank I have ever dealt with in my life. Its a shame how many people they try and rip off, I wonder how often they actually get away with it. read more

I have had an account w/ TCF for 10+ years and banked at different branches. I am writing this review for this bank and this banker in particular. Almost 10 years ago I closed one account w/ ex husband and thought all was well until I started getting monthly statements out of the blue this year??? I called on different occasions to get it straightened out and each time was told the account was 'dead', until I got ANOTHER statement in the mail. I eventually had to go in personally and speak to a banker, turns out some inept bookkeeping by my former employer and a ridiculous $1.00 deposit was re-enacting this account. Beyond crappy customer service. Had to pay 3% to cash a Check that was written on one of their checks. Then to be told its through a 3rd party because they don't cash non customers checks even though it is a Check drawn on one of their accounts. Complete joke and need ppl that have customer service skills. read more
