Lakeland Veterinary Hospital & Wellness Center - Waiting for the vet!!!

We called telling the staff we were running late and could they please wait a few minutes for us to get there. The answer was "we can't stay after 6pm for safety reasons" and that we would have to leave Emma overnight, which is what ultimately happened. Then when we picked her up in the morning, they had the balls to charge for boarding, even though I still have prepaid daycare that hasn't been used up. They have my money for that, but gave me a bulls--t story that it's a different service, so I couldn't use it as payment for the boarding. This place is totally about their own convenience and the cash flow, not how a person cares about a "Family member" They also said there is NO ONE in the building after 8:00 pm. Suppose there was a fire or other emergency, the animals wouldn't stand a chance. I am definitely going elsewhere for vet veterinary services and have had them send all of my records to me. It's a shame, because I really like the doctors here, but the manager and her attitude is beyond words.

They had seen us a week prior and helped get our guy thru for 24 hours until we could get to our normal vet. 5 days later when his rapid decline came after hours we had to return. They didn't pressure us into tests or treatments. They recognized he was actively dying and we needed to help him cross peacefully. For the more mundane aspect, pricing was comparable to any other vet we've been too. They even sent us a condolence card when our normal vet did not. While I hope no one ever needs to use them, I would recommend them time and time again.

If you love your pets like family, do not go near this place!!!…read more This was an unbelievably awful place full of incompetent, untrained, unconcientious owner vet and her receptionist and likely techs as well. My beloved cat who was 18 years old, diagnosed December 2024 with cancer was in her end days and on Sept 1, 2025 I had to make the excruciating decision to prevent any additional suffering for her. I took her to Vets ER because my regular Vet was out of the Country & had recommended them. The owner veterinarian was wearing nose ring, many bangles. First, she did not administer the right dose to help my call fall asleep before the lethal dose and she suffered. I cried out for help, they wisked my cat to the back and locked the door. I heard my cat crying! One of the Vet's bangles got caught on the first intravenous tube in her right paw and pulled it out! They had to reinsert another tube in her left paw. I have to live with knowing that during my beloved cat's final moments she was terrified, confused and suffered. It was not the peaceful parting we who loved her had planned. This vet, by her incompetence, lack of professional maturity and lack of true caring and compassion, caused my family overwhelming grief and guilt due to her incompetent actions. I wish I knew where to go to hold them accountable for completely avoidable tragedy!!

Super disappointed with a recent boarding at My Pets. My Pets Animal Hospital has been our vet for…read moreyears. I've boarded the family Goldendoodle (Max - http://tiktok.com/@mackymaxdoodle) many times without any issue. I recently had to leave town for a family funeral for the weekend. I dropped off Max Friday. I should have known things have gone downhill at My Pets when they had lost his reservation and the pre-paperwork I had completed prior to his arrival. Max apparently did well on Friday however on Saturday evening during a family funeral gathering, I received a long text explaining Max had growled while the handler (Sasha) went to let him out. Without discussion, the handler texted to inform me they had decided to sedate Max. He had already stayed the night prior with no issues. They also informed me of the medication cost and additional expense to administer the medication. They promptly sent a video in which they took a second effort to enter the cold prison like room, walk to his cell, and without being friendly to him and calling his name, they clanked the door latches and yes, he made a purring/growling noise. He appeared very nervous and scared. I asked for Dr Donna to call me as I didn't want him sedated and didn't understand why experts were unable to handle a family dog as they have many times before. I let them know to open the cage and invite him out and he'd be fine. I didn't get a call from Donna. Instead, I received a long text from Donna explaining that she had told the handler to sedate him and that was their policy. I told her I didn't want him sedated and that I would leave the out-of-town family gathering and come get him ASAP. Donna informed me I should get Max behavioral training (super well-trained family dog) and that she would call me to discuss the issue the following week. It would seem that it's My Pets staff that needs the training. They are supposed to know how to handle dogs while boarding. She also informed me that Max had disrupted hers and her staff's weekend. As it got close to pick Max up, I texted and asked how they would get him out of the cage as I didn't want him sedated. I received no reply. The same handler got him out of the cage and brought him to me (somehow without sedating him). Everyone at the front desk was "unsure" if Max was sedated including Sasha. It seemed there was a lack of transparency and trust as in his returned items was a bottle of pills with 4 pills unaccounted for. I informed them that he is a family member and didn't deserve to be drugged because he had a handler unwilling to be friendly to him and quite frankly was probably scared. I will never return Max to My Pets. He deserves to be treated with care and the handler failed to do so by intimidating him while he was in a vulnerable state. When Max first went to My Pets, they would greet him by name and even bring him a Licky mat with cheese whiz. This isn't even close to how he was treated during this boarding stay. Also, Dr. Donna didn't follow up and call to discuss like both her and her staff said would happen. Very disappointed and do not recommend boarding for your fury family member.
