How very nice of them. Before this was another staff member who would "PERSONALLY deLIVER a MESsage to the LAWYER (emphasis theirs) about the CASE!!!!" pure sarcasm on their part. Oh, how valued I felt. I would argue that this firm treats all native English speakers with the same level of disdain. If you are dealing with a federal case -- something serious, something with real stakes -- you deserve a firm that treats your situation with basic professional respect. Pines Federal does not. They will let you reach out repeatedly while your clock is ticking and say absolutely nothing. I have since filed a formal complaint with the state bar. There are good federal defense attorneys out there. This firm is apparently too busy -- or too indifferent -- to be one of them. Save yourself the time, the anxiety, and the false hope. Go somewhere that will actually pick up the phone.
