Our back deck had been a disaster since we moved into our house. It also did not have any steps for access to the backyard. We spent a year and a half contacting contractor after contractor, no one wanted to help us get our deck up to par. Not one person that came out to look at the deck would give us an estimate on what it would take to fix the deck. Some told us they would only give us pricing for a new deck, others just ghosted us all together. Enter Mark Skerlec. Mark listened to our needs and then gave us a variety of options that could rectify the issues with the deck. After making our final decisions Mark quickly scheduled a date to begin his work. He was clean, he was quick, and he did incredible work. Our deck no longer sags. It no longer bounces when you walk on it. I also finally have direct access to the backyard. The most amazing part is Mark was able to take the time to match up the parts he used with the current design of the deck. Looking at it you would never know that it was once a monstrous atrocity. We hired him to replace our roof in 2019. He told us the crew performing the work were personally trained by him, that he used to roof but is too old to get on a roof anymore. This guy has never been on a roof or pound a nail in his life. All his crews are sub contractors. Our roof has been leaking since it was installed. He sent a crew out a few times to fix the roof but all they did was caulk my dormers, which did not fix the problem. Since September 2022 I have been trying to get him to fix my roof. He blew us off all winter because of bad weather. He has told us numerous dates that guys would be here or material would be delivered. Each time nobody showed and Paul would not return a phone call or text. My wife called him from her work phone and he hung up on her when he found out it was her. If you hire him your roof will leak, and he will not fix it. He is a total sales man and will lie about anything and everything to sell you a roof, but will not do anything about it when it leaks. And you can wipe your butt with the owens corning 50 year warranty he sells with it because so far all they've done is contacted Paul to try to get him to resolve it.

We also loved that it's a family business...one that was recommended directly from my dad (Gregor redid his roof years ago). For the initial meeting and estimate, Rick gave us a wealth of information. He knew more about my roof that I did from walking around my home. He recommended a few different improvements including an attic fan and gave us options to extend the life of our existing roof or replace it entirely. We ultimately opted for a new roof and gutters to mitigate our water issues and extend the life of our home. Prior to the start, Rick consulted on color choices and made recommendations that would be the best for our home. Each unit being individually owned without a coop gives each homeowner liberty to do what they like. The downside is when we share a common roof and everyone decides for themselves about replacement. That being said I contacted at least a dozen companies last fall for a roof replacement only to be turned down since my unit sits in the middle of the complex. Of the few that agreed to work with me only Prescott gave me and my adjoining neighbors peace of mind by agreeing to work in the "transition areas" and extending their 15 year warranty to those areas so that the neighbors would approve the work. I also checked their references and got good reports from the people I spoke to. I highly recommend anyone considering a business to ask for and check their references. My roof was nearing the end of it's life and to avoid any potential water damage I was able to contract with them last fall for this year's project. Prescott roofing offers financing but if you pay by check you get 2% discount. With the trend of roofs now going to dimensional shingles I figured my 3 tab shingles up there weren't long for this world. The quote seemed high but the other few I did receive were higher than theirs especially for 3 tab shingles. With a few "hiccups" along the way my roofing team finally came out to do the job on a very hot summer day. I was very pleased with their honesty about the decking when they said didn't need replaced. That decking has been up there for many years and I was extremely concerned about the area around the ridge vent. They arranged for a dumpster to be placed on my driveway so that they could remove the debris. I was able to watch them through the install process and they answered all my questions and concerns. Since my townhouse is small they were able to complete the whole project in one day. I'm very pleased with the work they did as well as the clean up to make sure nothing got left and nothing fell into a neighbor's property. I'm very glad that they were able to "separate" my unit by installing ridge cap shingles after putting an water and ice guard shield both in the transition areas as well as the gutter lines. The workmanship is guaranteed for 15 years and they will register the shingles with the manufacturer and they in turn will send me my warranty. A new roofing system is a major investment but for me I wanted to make sure I was getting quality work for the amount of money put in. Time will tell about the new roof and how it stands up. This review will be updated to reflect that if need be but I feel confident that with them team working in near 100 degree heat that tar just immediately stuck to the new felt pad installed. So the shingles needed to be applied carefully. I'm very pleased with the work they did and more importantly to see it done properly.

When I called to ask if I'd get a reduction since so little was done, the estimator said he was doing me a great favor no other roofer would do--he'd knock the bill down to $1100. For only three slates and a little over an hour of the workers' time? It didn't make sense to me and I was not offered a cost breakdown.The roofer I used to work with (retired) never pulled stunts like that--you paid for 20 slates, you got 20 slates--not overestimating the job to inflate the bill. Stay away from this company.

I'll provide a very detailed account of the experience below for people who are considering hiring Three Rivers Contracting, but the short version is they told me it would cost $3,650 to fix the water issue. They completed the work but the issue is completely unresolved. Three Rivers Contracting and Al refuse to address the issue and have taken my money without doing what they were hired to do. I called Al to discuss getting a quote for a roof leak that was allowing water to enter my main bedroom. Al was kind and prompt in setting up a time to inspect the roof and provide a quote. About a week later Al stated he had gotten up on the roof and suggested some repairs that would cost between $3500-$4000 depending on the final cost of materials. I asked if this would resolve the water issue (as this was the entire purpose of getting the work done) and Al said it would. A few weeks later I called Al back and agreed to hire him for the job. Al wasn't able to start the repairs for a few weeks because of rainy weather in the area, which was understandable. A few days later I sent Al photos of the damage the water was causing inside and asked if he knew where we were in terms of scheduling because the water damage was getting worse. Al said we would be the next job as soon as there is a clear day and even provided a couple of suggestions to mitigate the water damage in the meantime. It's clear that the only reason I was getting the work done was to stop the water leak. As promised, a worker came by a few days later and completed the work. The work took less than a full day. Al came by the following day to pick up a check for the work and said we should be good to go and to call if there were any issues as the work comes with a 1-year warranty. After the next rainstorm I noticed water still coming in all of the same spots as before. I sent Al a text message to let him know the issue was still happening and he gave me a call to discuss. Al advised there could be issues with the siding or maybe an issue with another totally separate portion of the roof. This was quite a surprise as this was NEVER mentioned before. The job was sold as $3,650 to fix the water leak, NOT $3,650 and it might fix it, it might not. I don't know anything about roofs so I trusted what Al told me. Al then went on to tell me the contractor who remodeled the house prior to me purchasing the property should fix this and I should take it up with them or the home inspector? He went on to say he hates working on these "flip" homes because they are all junk, etc. Maybe that's true, I don't know, but why would you not review this before agreeing to the job. Instead they took my money and didn't fix the problem. Three Rivers has been extremely unaccountable and have done nothing but blame the previous owners of the home and home inspector. I don't understand how this is relevant since they were hired to fix the leak and they didn't fix the leak at all. Now I'm out thousands of dollars and have to find someone else to fix the leak. Absolutely awful experience. Avoid at all costs.
