Slight improvement in math but he really doesn't like it so I understand the slow improvement. But his reading and writing greatly improved and it showed on his ISIP test. We met with the old principal a few times and made the decision to attend there. She left and Mrs Silber took over for a bit and did a wonderful job. Then Mrs Bruce came on board as the new principal and has done a wonderful job. Makes it feel like a family atmosphere, very welcoming, answers all your questions. They keep it challenging with a lot of class options for the students. Mr Holcombe does amazing work with our student. Very patient no matter what the issue is. Our student seems to really be happy with the choice that was made. We are very happy with Gateway Tech.

This review is regarding the interactions via email that I had with the graduate programs director,…read moreDOCTOR Kathy Smith. Lots of emphasis on DOCTOR. After being accepted to the Texas State nurse practitioner program, I received communications from the university and the graduate studies department. Email instructions which appeared to contradict each other, or mislead the receiver somewhat, and made the university seem disorganized. Wanting to be conscientious, I sent a respectful email to DOCTOR Smith, asking politely for clarification. Her response was ridiculously arrogant and made it very clear that she was irritated by the email I had sent her for clarification. There was no explanation or apology for the different messages that I received from the university vs the graduate nursing department, and she made a point of stressing that students must refer to her as DOCTOR Smith. I have no problem with that, of course, since I'm sure she worked hard for her doctorate. Her rudeness, arrogance and obviously impatient attitude was a dealbreaker for me, the last straw after the other aggravating issues with Texas State University. I immediately decided to attend a different school, because DOCTOR Smith's behavior made it seem like a very bad idea to deal with this school for an entire 15 months! I'm happily attending grad school elsewhere, even though it is more expensive and the program is longer.

The kids go in once or twice a week and do more worksheets and are tested at the end of each level. We go twice a week. I believe they are open Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday, but (at least for the math..they also have reading, too) your child needs to placed first with a test. They don't always like the daily work on top of school, but it is like learning an instrument. A little bit of daily work makes a huge difference in the long term. It's helped one child who is okay with math, but perhaps not her strong point. It's also helped my other child who seems to have an easier time with math and she is getting ahead.
