Moved to Murfreesboro several years ago and had to find new physicians. We struggled finding a…read more Primary Care Physician for check-ups; physicals and occasional winters colds and what appeared to be minor ailments. Many walk in clinics have wonderful nurses but the turnover in their employees is continual-which hinders good service. We were referred to Dr. Hopkins and his staff and it was just what we needed. They are located right off the square downtown Murfreesboro in an older but very neat building. Our family has seen Dr. Hopkins on occasion and also his PA's and nurses-they are all very thorough, professional and kind. They have either always taken care of us or referred us on to a specialist when our case warranted. The front office staff are polite and always ready to answer questions. When our private insurance was cancelled by BCBS and like thousands had to scramble for health insurance- we made sure our new coverage was a policy that Dr. Hopkin's practice accepted. Our family has found our doctor!

If you have anything more challenging, you may be taking your life in your hands. I had a small tumor in my pancreas that he didn't seem too concerned about and approached with a "wait and see" attitude. Within six months the tumor grew so large that not only did it require the removal of 60% of my pancreas but it had also blocked the blood flow to my spleen, requiring it to be removed as well. For months afterward, as my A1C kept rising to dangerous levels (17 at it's highest), his answer was to just keep increasing my oral diabetes medications. Thank goodness another doctor referred me out to a good endocrinologist who was aghast at how my diabetes was being handled. He made the comment that any competent doctor would have known to switch me to insulin as I did not have enough of a pancreas left for the medication I was taking to function as designed. Within a few months my A1C dropped drastically and I found a new PCP. Dr. Lewis seems like a very nice person, and appeared genuinely concerned, but when your health is on the line, you want expertise. If you have a complicated health issue, you may want to look for a more seasoned physician.

A surgeon consulted with me and advised me to leave that provider. I then got many recommendations for Dr. Patel. Those recommendations were "spot on". Dr. Patel is great. Dr. Patel is wonderful. He is amiable and understands where you are coming from. He believes you. He does assertively tell you what your treatment plan is. He will take all factors into consideration. One of the best things I like is that he is a part of an overall consortium. It is "one stop medical shopping".

I called to schedule a new patient appointment and could have been seen the same week had my schedule permitted. However, I had to schedule for two weeks out. Then, the day before my appointment, I had to reschedule but was able to get in the next week - none of this waiting for a new appointment for weeks or months I've experienced at other medical offices in the area. Dr. Puckett recently moved into a new office on N. Highland, which was very easy to find and pleasantly decorated. While there I interacted with the woman working the front desk as well as the nurse, and both could not have been more friendly or professional. I only waited about 5 minutes before being called back. I really connected with Dr. Puckett. She is friendly, engaging, attentive and was very skilled at explaining complicated medical terms and conditions in a manner a layperson could understand. She took time to get to know me, and never once did I feel as if she was rushing me through the appointment. I have definitely found a doctor for life... or as long as my insurance plan will let me see her!
