When my company decided to switch accounting software, I knew trying to integrate QuickBooks Pro 2014 with XERO would be nearly impossible for me to do by myself. Xero has a support page online that will walk you through it, but I couldn't even grasp the first step. I can't tell you how amazing their guidance has been. Tina integrated everything for us and fixed all of the past accounting mistakes so we could start with a clean slate, and Katrina conducted an online meeting with us to show us how to use Xero. Since then we have relied upon her for her other skills - accounting and integrating the most up to date and efficient apps with QB that suit our business needs. She comes highly recommended.

Barbara provided book keeping and tax preparation service for my business…read more Barbara is a bit of an odd duck. I am not sure that I have heard someone use more words to say so very little on such a regular basis. I think it is in part of a sub conscience strategy to deflect your attention away from her frequent uncertainty about how to answer what I would consider typical questions. I tolerated her since she was the devil I knew and figured I would be okay in the end. Turns out there were three issues that came up that are a direction result of acts or omission on her part. Accordingly, I would avoid the use of her service unless you are feeling lucky. 1. We discussed and she confirmed that since my business is taxed as an SCorp and the taxes would be filed by me as an individual and I had no quarterly tax liability. She asserted that she told me that I did have a quarterly tax liability. If that was the case I would asked her to calculate my quarterly tax liability for the year in October 2015 when we first started doing business. I found out about my liability from the IRS via a letter indicating I owed penalties on unpaid quarterly taxes from 2015. I was quite surprised by this letter. I emailed Barbara to ask about the letter and she said: "Issam, I am sorry if you misunderstood the quarterly payments and associated penalties. Looking back at my records, I see that you did not start using my services until the last quarter of 2015. You had already missed your estimates for 2015. I do not calculate penalties and interest. That is up to the IRS. I know that we discussed your quarterly payment obligations. It is up to you to make those payments. Barbara" I understand that paying my taxes with my money is my obligation. Had we ever had any conversation about my missed quarterly tax liability I would have asked her to calculate them for my Year-to-Date. I even asked her for a tax estimate and the estimate made no mention of quarterly tax liabilities. Who files taxes for a client and doesn't calculate quarterly penalties? Even the H&R Block people can calculate penalties and interest. Even worse, who files taxes for a client and say absolutely nothing about penalties and interest during the tax preparation process. Barbara Joyce did that. Why I would I go to the trouble hiring a book keeper to help me get QBO in order and to file my taxes and then completely ignore the need to calculate quarterly taxes? Her assertion in her email is not in keeping with the facts as they exist and makes no sense. 2. I received my Arizona return. I had been expecting about $2800 refund and instead they found an error and now I owe them $2700. That is about a $5500 error. I didn't even bother raising this issue with her given the way she responded when I told her that I no longer require her services. I said this after her previous email, "Very well then. That is too large of a misunderstanding for my liking. Thank you for your services. I'll be moving to find another accountant." Barbara's response to losing a client was," That works for me." 3. She is very unprofessional. I had her to my home on 2 occasions to discuss my finances and she brought along with her "baggage" about other clients. She spent at least 30 minutes on each occasion telling me about how terrible some of her clients are and what she thinks of how they do business. Very unprofessional and I am sure once this review is seen I will end up in her rotation of bad mouthing clients. Consider yourselves warned she isn't very good at her job and her demeanor moves directly to a defensive posture when you question her about what she says and what she does. At the end of the day if you are a small business you need a competent partner that you can trust. Barbara turned out to be neither competent nor trust worthy.

My CPA of many years passed away suddenly during tax year 2022. I used H&R Block because I couldn't…read moreget into anyone during the busy tax season. For 2023, I researched CPAs early in the year and decided to go with Wanda. I spoke with her, she gave me a ballpark price and agreed to review the previous year's tax return and meet with me before doing 2023. Wow! I was in for a rude awakening! I uploaded my information to her 3.5 to 4 weeks before taxes are due. I supplied everything requested. I didn't hear anything from her office for about 2 weeks, then over the course of the last 2 weeks, I would get piece meal requests for information (not originally requested) as if the office/ Wanda was not really focused on my taxes. I FINALLY received my taxes back from them on Friday afternoon, August 12th with taxes due August 15th! I asked if Wanda was going to review them with me, but I was told no because the office was closed for the weekend and I must come in Monday to pay them before they would submit my taxes on Monday, August 15th! I was not even afforded the courtesy of reviewing my taxes with Wanda! My taxes are not complicated, but when I went in Monday, I was required to pay $995.00 (!) for them to submit my taxes on the due date. This amount of money was highway robbery, but what choice did I have because they forced me to the last minute. I asked to file an extension, but they were going to charge me another $250.00 to do that. Additionally, I finally met Wanda when I was making this outrageous payment and I asked her a couple of questions. It became clear to me that she is not the one who really did my taxes. Unfortunately, she did my son's taxes also. He's in his 20s with a meager income and not a complicated return. They finished his taxes about 5 days before August 15th. His invoice was $895! I couldn't believe it! He asked them why it was so high and they said they had accidentally put some of my charges on his bill and lowered it a couple hundred, but still...$695 to do his taxes! I realize she has received other rave reviews, but I would never, ever recommend Wanda O'Malley! I rarely, if ever, write reviews, but I felt this one was important. If I could give zero stars, I would. Steer clear.

I was really worried about finding the right person. It's an industry where you expect to meet really smart people with not so great personal skills. So I was prepared for lackluster. I was actually, kind of dreading the process. Anyhow, I met with the first of three candidates: Wanda E. O'Malley. Here's how that went: she absolutely knocked my socks off. I'm actually looking forward to my current CPA's retirement now. Wanda is super approachable. she is an excellent listener who knows how to really be present with the person she is talking to. That alone scores HUGE points in my book. It seems that when most people are in conversation they are thinking about what they want to say next instead of actually engaging and truly listening. SO that tells me that Wanda will be all over the details when it's time to take over our taxes. As a local real estate agent, I get plenty of requests for referrals for various professionals, and it will be a pleasure to refer Wanda E. O'Malley at every opportunity. One last thing to note: I did a little digging, and discovered that not only has Wanda graduated with an accounting degree, she actually graduated as Magna Cum Laude of her class. Pretty impressive. Give it a go with Wanda E. O'Malley CPA when you have accounting needs; I'm sure you will be glad you did.
