While Dr.Young did great work with the actual process of getting the implants put in, the billing situation was as sharp as a root canal without the Novocain. My bill looked like a tax return and didn't resemble the costs that were agreed upon prior to this process kicking off. They refused to bill my insurance (for about 6 months until I asked my insurance provider reached out to them) for reasons unknown, did not provide procedure codes upo request, and were genuinely the worst to work with. The individual who runs their billing takes the cake for being the most confident yet least knowledgeable person in regard to how insurance works and exactly what they will and will not cover. Luckily my provider was able to have a 1:1 session with her to (hopefully but unlikely) get her up to speed on best billing practices moving forward. She's extremely rude and becomes increasingly so as you call her on her shady and unethical practices. I'm sure there will be some cutesy reply to this placing all the blame on me but at the end of the day I hope I can dissuade at least one person from going through what I went through with this place. Find another office to deal with!

My longer review: Dr. Ellingson and his staff are very friendly people, and their office is clean and lovely. I'm even sure that the work that they do is high quality. However, I would urge you to read the reviews before you go here. I showed up with a tooth that needed a root canal. On my initial exam I was told that I needed somewhere around 12 other fillings. That set off some alarm bells as I'd been having (at minimum) yearly checkups by reputable dentists in San Francisco and Chicago over my entire adult life. I have never had any dentist tell me I needed this much work done. But I went and got the root canal and then was convinced/tricked to get a few fillings done "while they were in that quadrant". Long story short, I took their treatment plan to two different dentists. Neither agreed with their plan, both thought it was over-treating. One was apoplectic, asked for the name of the practice so that she could call them herself. Her words were that they were "bandits" and that "god will judge them for stealing from people who need help". Anyways, I would recommend all clients go get a second opinion prior to authorizing any work. I won't mention that they (I assume they are well versed in insurance) told me that my max benefit was 1500 when it was 1000 and then proceeded to milk every cent from that that they could and then foist the rest onto me. I'm no expert (or fan) of my insurance so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on this one. All I"ll say is to take their treatment plan for a second opinion before consenting to any work.

The problem I had was customer service, honestly, taking time to actually evaluate what was going on, and being over charged. Crowns look great, but what's underneath doesn't…read more After their initial root canal and crown (done wrong), I ended up with a year-long infection that eventually required an apicoectomy and then a full root canal redo by an endodontist -- who was shocked they had let it go so long (more than a year) and hadn't caught, on imaging, that the entire root canal seal had failed and was leaking. Right after the crowns were placed more than a year ago, I called them in urgent pain -- but they didn't answer for a full week because of "phone issues." In desperation, I went to a 24/7 dentist who misdiagnosed me. When they finally answered the next day, I went back because they knew my case and I didn't want to risk losing my new crowns. They loaded me with antibiotics, did the apicoectomy, and gave me a free bottle of "fairy dust" mouthwash, assuring me that time would help. It didn't. They could have caught this much earlier with proper imaging like an MRI and a timely referral to an endodontist. Instead, it was delay after delay, unnecessary procedures, and more pain than I should have endured. I will not be returning. I paid a lot of money for a nice crown with a hole in it.

Dr. Thompson is very friendly, and was very good at making sure I knew exactly what work needed to be done, going through x-rays meticulously. He checked frequently to make sure I wasn't in any discomfort. And when I needed a crown, he and the dental assistant took the time to make sure the color would be perfect.

The root canal was done incorrectly and 3 years later the veneer came loose due to an infection causing major pain, oral surgery and years of anxiety. Here I am nearly 15 years later and having issues with the same tooth. I've seen other reviews that mention that his license was revoked, it's shame it wasn't permanent!
