Not only do they have an app, but if you call ahead, they will take your well-behaved dog as well. I've had better luck taking my sidekick here than ever with Uber. There was almost always a Champlain car at my hotel and if you needed to call for one, the driver was there in less than 5 minutes. The Champlain drivers were courteous, helpful with loading suitcases and knew their way around very well. They also all spoke English as one of the taxis I took in the rain ended up being something else with a driver who not only did not understand English but was rude. I dont know what is going on with this company but lately, the dispatcher has been incredibly rude. There was a reason why Uber works so well and it is taking over the taxis industry. Since Uber is planning to leave, the customer service takes the liberty to argue with the customers. I was blamed for missing my Taxi since it has been awhile they were waiting and they wont call you when they arrived. They have a tendancy to answer you in a way to make you sound stupid. The dispatcher wont hesitate to hang up on me TWICE when she doesnt like where the conversation is going. The ride wasnt too costy but the driver was as rude as the dispatcher. Recent events require an update. I've had good luck with Champlain when calling from my place but recently they've been taking longer to show up. And the cars are increasingly sketch, ripped seats, crazy smells, loud radio, super old school hand worked credit card machines with no debit option. Anyway, all this said I still called them first when I was stuck on a street corner with stacks of heavy things I couldn't carry alone. And then the dispatcher hung up on me! We were just taken for a $$$$ ride. We paid $71.20 (not including gratuity) for a 70 minute taxi ride from the Village to the airport. When I pointed out that I had paid the the standard $41 taxi fare from the airport to the same apt where I was picked up, the driver snarled that the Village was not in the $41 "downtown" zone and that's why he turned on the meter. Since we were not familiar with the geography, we quietly paid the demanded amount. But I'm left wondering how our ride from the Village to the airport took 70 minutes while the meter was conveniently running. read more

PLEASE READ: THIS WAS A SCAM!!! A driver from this service came to pick me up from the Le Square Phillips Hotel this afternoon to take me to the airport. This driver definitely pulled a scam on me. I tried to charge my taxi fare twice on his credit card machine and both times it canceled on me and I even tried my debt card which didn't work either. So, he tells me to go inside the airport and use their cash machine to pay him. I get out of the taxi to get my luggage and he asked me for American dollars, he asked me for $45 us dollars which would mean he actually would receive about $62 Canadian dollars when the fare was $41.00 Canadian dollars plus $2 tip for handling the luggage. I tried to explain this to him, he was very argumentative! He kept saying, it was not his fault my credit card wasn't working. I had to end up giving him $40 us because I didn't have change or anymore Canadian currency. The reason I felt he pulled a scam on me was because my credit card worked just fine when I purchased food a little later in the airport. I PLEAD WITH ANYONE WHO USES THIS TAXI SERVICE OR ANY OTHER TAXI TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE THE CANADIAN CASH TO PAY OR ELSE YOU'LL LIKELY GET RIPPED OFF!! I only gave 2 stars and it's not because of the drivers. Most of the men have been in the taxi industry for many years and are really nice and friendly. The cabs are mostly clean and comfortable. The problem is out of the many cabs I took over the summer (about 15) during the most record breaking heat waves, only one cab had the air conditioning on. When I tried to suggest to one cab driver to put his on, he told me he's used to the heat. Well, I'm the client and someone should also be thinking of me. Called at 11.30 on a Sunday and I was astounded how impolite the call agent is. I told him my address but he HUNG UP before I could tell him it's for 5 people and for 12 , not right away. I called back, was on hold again, and when Igot the same person, I told him I'm not done yet. Instead of feeling sorry, he said 'I thought you're done'. He put me on hold and got back on the line but when I was about to say the time. he hung up AGAIN right after he said my taxi is on the way, without estimated arrival time. This taxi company is the absolute worst!!! I have never written a review for anything before but the service was so atrocious I felt the need to make sure no one uses them. I called well in advance (first 5 days before and then 24 hours before as requested). I explained we needed a driver that spoke English and that the passengers would be elderly and had to be picked up on time as they were being transported to a family event. The cab was 22 minutes late to pick up and seemed lost. They had to wave him down. The driver was rude and did not speak English. The stress put on them, their care giver and those of us waiting for them to arrive at their granddaughters wedding was unacceptable. As well, when we called for the taxi to return to bring them home after the event, they never showed. We sent our parents home in an Uber and should have used Uber to start with. Lesson learned and shame on the driver and Champlain taxi as a company. Do not use them under any circumstances!!! read more

August 6 2017 I called one of montreal's taxi services to take us to dorval airport and mentioned we are 2 people and have 6 suitcases. i requested a vehicle large enough. instead they sent a tiny taxi which can carry no mor than 2 of my load. sure the driver was upset why he was sent and left. then i called champlain taxi, explained the situation and after 5 munutes arrived a large suv which took us into the airport the driver even helped us to load and unload the luggage. thank you taxi chanplain. read more

Terrible experience - these guys are total scam artists. Driver would not let me exit car until I re-entered my debit card info after it was processed once, insisting that the transaction had not gone through when I knew it had. He intimidated me into entering my info a second time, and I got home and connected with my bank to find out I was double-charged. It has now been 3 weeks and I have sent proof of my duplicate charge (receipts) as well as identified the driver. No response. I feel ripped off and angry and I want my money back. read more

Twice I have used this service and it was BAD for both occasions. The first time I had a driver who obviously did not know the city very well and needed information : not being in a hurry, it was not too much of a problem but it should have been an alert for the next time. The second time I was in a hurry and yet the driver - who again was not familiar with driving in town and did not even have a GPS - seemed not to care. He took his time, caring only for the final payment. Bottom line, I missed my trip and I had to pay additional tickets... ! DISGUSTING SERVICE! One-star rating is over-rated for Champlain! They need a negative rating! First, I have never had this experience that you need to stress that you need a cab with a credit card machine then even when you emphasize, the cabbies are always going to ask you for cash when you produce a credit card some will be rude and say that you need to say whether you wanted an Interac or Credit Card. I mean it starts getting ridiculous - the amount of information you need to know and communicate to request a taxi is insane (of course you learn all of this only when you get to your destination or in the middle of the highway getting to where you need to be). Furthermore, if it was all that important why are the dispatchers not asking for it??? This is a repeated occurrence with Champlain. This review has been written after taking their cabs for the past 3 weeks and this is an ongoing feature. Not to mention the cab drivers are almost always rude then you have to deal with this nonsense. Are they really doing us a favor by driving us around? Are they doing this for free? Then you will have drivers throw a hissy fit because the fare does not justify the use of a credit card machine and they will go into a monologue about the rental, the charges et al. Yes, I understand but as a customer who specifically asked for a cab with a credit card machine an angry driver is not someone I want. One driver even turned around and told me "You went to the bank so you should have some cash on you." Then unlike Laval cabs, these drivers (most of them) do not have a GPS and if you are new to the town like I am, you give them the address they take you there and voila it is not where you should be. Why? Because there are two streets with the same name, and they are so mighty sure of themselves despite asking them whether you know where you have to go. Then they have the audacity to turn around and ask if you have the right address. I have missed one appointment like this and have spent over CDN $55 just looking for the address. And then when we could not get the address I told the driver to take me to another destination and he threw a hissy fit! Seriously? Today, I get a cabbie who does not even own a machine! And, then you call up Champlain to understand these repeated snafus and you are put on hold. These buggers don't even have the damn courtesy to apologize and you are put between a fight that ensues between the dispatcher and the cab driver. Then the cabbie goes on to badmouth the dispatcher and that the lady is always like this - it just got so ridiculously unpleasant. I am aghast how customers get treated by Champlain! I used to take Champlain about 2 years ago and they were obnoxious then. I was surprised to see that their customer service had marginally improved (as in the dispatcher would hang up before you could even complete your request now at least they listen to you and you get hung up while you are still finishing your last sentence - this is good compared to what they used to be!) in the last 2 years but their mismanagement over the past 3 weeks, and it is the same thing over and over and over again. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!! Called the dispatch center, they sent me a taxi, and the guy stole my credit card number. I paid with a credit card, got a receipt, and thought everything was ok, but 3 days later someone tried to withdraw $203 from an atm with my card number. Their call center was useless as well. I wanted to report the guy so other people don't get stolen from as well, but the woman there didn't really care. I was transferred to another department, and the lady there couldn't even fathom how someone could steal a credit card number without the physical card. I had to explain it to her... Don't risk it, you're better off using Uber! Stay safe guys read more
