I appreciate their knowledge of tax procedures and law, and I'm willing to pay for it. Our preparer this year apologized that the cost per form had gone up a bit, but our total wasn't much more than usual, so we can just go with it. And the cost is always deductible for the following year. We make an appointment on a weekend day each year and make a half-day of it. After our 9am appointment this year, we had breakfast while we waited for the computer entry and filing, picked up our info again, and were home by noon.

My wait was only 120 minutes, and it took all of about 8 minutes to resolve my situation. Pleasant and efficient employees, in spite of the crowd. If I have any further dealings with the IRS, I'll probably just pay to park in downtown Detroit and go to that office. They certainly have more employees on staff at the Detroit location.
