In response to Jacquelyn M., who for some reason felt the need to respond to my review and defend…read moreMr. Noto I say that sure we knew there were changes to the tax law. But we did not understand how drastic the changes would be. We went from getting about $2,000 back per year to owing $6,000!!! We thought that our refund would be very small or that we would about break even. An $8,000 swing is crazy. Tax laws are purposely complicated. I'm not a CPA. I don't understand tax law. That's what I pay Noto for. He's supposed to know these things. I feel that since the changes were so huge in 2018 that he should have given his customers the courtesy of a quick phone call or an e-mail. How difficult would it have been for him to just type a quick e-mail blast to tell everyone to look at changing their deductions? He had a whole year. Did he just not want to deal with the number of customers wishing to schedule appointments to discuss their taxes? I also corrected a mistake he made on one of our returns a few years ago. I remember him chuckling and saying, "Don't tell anybody." Also, I started doing a review program with Best Buy last year. They send me products to test and I review them on their website. I called Noto to ask him about the tax implications of this before starting the program and he told me that if I kept the products to under $5,000 worth for the year I should be OK. I did about $2,000 worth of products and that screwed us. So he was wrong about that also. So I stand by my review. The man is useless and I will NOT be paying for his services again. I know some other customers of his that were also blind-sided by their 2018 taxes and won't be using him either. I am not the only customer he has lost over this.

His staff is very responsive and courteous and his rates are very competitive. Highly recommend. For anyone complaining that you weren't advised to change your deductions in 2018 and wound up with a huge tax bill, unless you've been living in a bomb shelter for the past year, not paying attention to the news, it's your own fault. Every year when I pick my taxes up, if I owe, I always received advise from Frank or his team on how to avoid payments for the next year.

When I provided written instructions to update my payment details on 4/10, she disregarded them. Worse, she only contacted me on the morning of 4/15--after she had already scheduled an unauthorized $1,250 withdrawal from my old account. Because of her negligence, I am now burdened with the arduous process of recovering these funds from the FTB myself. Between the total breakdown in communication and this financial fallout, I no longer trust her with my affairs. Look elsewhere if you value basic accountability.
