Simply put, do not pass this place up!
My wife and I were visiting Rome all day. We got back to the airport Marriott and were looking for local authentic Italian cuisine, at a non-touristy restaurant. What we found exceeded out wildest imaginations.
As it turns out, there are not many restaurants in this area of Rome to begin with and most were closing because we ventured out late evening. We drove up to Taverna Portuense Trattoria expecting them to turn us away because they too were closing, which they were. The owners greeted us and told us to stay and they would cook us anything off the menu we wanted.
The dishes on the menu were all unique and interesting. After choosing a couple entries, a few moments later we were sampling some of Italy's finest. The food was paired with awesome Italian wine and our tastebuds thanked us. We met the owners, wife (chef) and husband (host and server) who were fun and made meal extra special.
Thank you for the wonderful experience, we will never forget it! read more
