Had dinner for the second time in two months. Atmosphere, food, and service is very good. Exception: My Mahi was pretty much raw in the center. Very good until but I wasn't expecting a raw center. I showed to the waitress,and she apologized, but for such a nice place, I expected a manager or cook to com out and apologize. Nothing ! This was our 2nd visit to this restaurant. Our first visit was uneventful and forgettable. We sat out on the patio, which is a nice feature to have at a small restaurant out here in the middle of nowhere. The service was...homey. In that they love their regulars or since it's a small town they seemed to know everyone. Down side of that is that we aren't regulars and aren't from around here lol. We ordered nachos. They were...nothing to revisit for, (think movie theater nacho cheese) but since it was just nachos we figured we'd give them another go. Revisited last Friday with a friend from out of town. This time we sat inside and ordered actual food. Our friend disliked the atmosphere immediately but he's amicable and wanted to wait it out and see. The atmosphere that night was bustling and conservatively stuffy. They appeared to be hosting a large party. There were hor dourves laid out on the bar, that I doubt were for everyone, although we don't know because they weren't offered and no reference to them was made. The clientele all appeared to have just come from church, think large party and crying babies, all with a posh southern air about them. If you love khaki and pastel or plaid, you'll be right at home. If you don't enjoy people giving you the side eye if you happen to not wear pastel and khakis then you might be more comfortable elsewhere. Upon entering our friend made a bee line for the bar. He assumed since it looked so crowded that there would be a wait to be seated, so he wanted to get the festivities rolling before we sat down. He was informed brusquely, that he couldn't order a drink at the bar until he'd been seated. Say wha? Um, why do you have seating at the bar? So peevishly he came back to us where we were already being seated. He was delighted to find that although they wouldn't serve him from the bar, that upon sitting they had already made his drink and had brought it over. Slight redemption there. Hubby and I both also got mixed drinks. Meh, they were fine. Mine was supposed to be a "blue dolphin martini" I believe but it tasted like a blue motorcycle in a martini class with extra blue curacao. The service was incredibly slow. Granted they seated us quickly and we thought that seemed promising but it wasn't. They needed more staff to accommodate the large party and friday dinner crowd they had going on. Our waitress was pleasant but hurried and pretty MIA. It took at least 20 minutes just to order. Overall when we finally did get our food it was pretty good. I was surprised and not expecting much after the nachos we'd had before. I got crab cakes and mashed potatoes. While not bad and completely inoffensive were forgettable. Husband got a burger that he enjoyed and our friend got a steak. No one had any complaints about the food. At the end of the day, the food was pretty good. The drinks were ok. The service was lacking but earnest. And the atmosphere will appeal to some but definitely not others. Seems universal that the service seems to be an issue in the reviews, so i would only recommend this place if you've got time to kill and don't mind paying too much for a long drawn out albeit forgettable leisurely meal. Service was great- the food was not so great. I had the salmon with asparagus and mashed potatoes. The salmon was previously frozen, the mashed potatoes were instant and the asparagus was soggy. What a pleasant place to go out on a date (which can be rare around here) in the town of Murfreesboro, NC. Don't be fooled by this "small town", it's got its fair share of "hidden gems" and this truly is a fine dining place eatery with a comfortable feel. Very inviting, and such a relaxing place to just enjoy being "us" (if only for a few moments in time) The staff were extremely attentive, and did a great job of taking care of us throughout the meal. We ordered beer battered shrimp, grilled shrimp, twice baked loaded potato, a side caesar salad, a grilled burger on a pretzel bun along with some perfectly cooked onion rings! We felt so well fed, we didn't even have room for dessert...and in hearing they make them in house, we REALLY did want to partake, but just couldn't....until next time then...for there definitely will be a "next time"! As a person of color not a very inviting atmosphere upon walking in staff was not very friendly as well. As a business owner and service provider first impressions are everything. The presentation of my salad(Greek) was beautiful very little dressing and my soup was cold the staff informed me they would "warm my soup" up instead of a fresh bowl. My husband and I went here for an early dinner last week and had a pleasant time. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the atmosphere is cozy yet dignified. Our meal was good. I got the shrimp and chips and a sweet tea and I have no complaints about the food. The batter on the shrimp was actually quite good and the chips are hand cut. What I do find peculiar is the cost of the food. I know the restaurant caters to the university in town, but the prices seem a little steep for the locals. All in all, a pleasant trip. I took the scenic way from Norfolk to Charleston and found myself traveling through Murfreesboro, North Carolina. I pulled into Tavern 125 and found it an awesome spot to stop for lunch. Quality draft beers for a reasonable price and delicious food, well above average pub fare. It was quiet in the hours leading up to dinner but its an obvious spot to be seen out at night in Murfreesboro. The French Dip was amazing and I topped it off with a Fat Tire. I travel a bit and of course that means I also eat out a lot. Rarely does that ever include fast-food. I prefer a good homestyle kitchen, nice Steakhouse, or a good seafood place if I'm in that local. I was traveling for work that put me in the most excellent company that showed me great hospitality. My job is extremely physically demanding and especially this particular job. My friends I was staying with had been talking about a few resturaunts in the area so I invited them to pick one they would like to experience with me when my job was finished and I could relax. They chose this place with mixed feelings from past experience. I said I'd give it a try. We went and here's how I would rate this place. Location/layout: good as long as it's not raining where people have to crowd inside. Staff/Service: it felt like a retired couple was giving the restaurant business a go. There were nothing but cold stoic stares from those who were apparently in charge and seemed like the owner. The lady of the place dressed in all black stood lurking behind the bar watching over everything and the man dressed in Chef whites who made three appearances. Once to consult with the woman behind the bar and twice to the large party they were also hosting. The wait staff were too busy with large party, sitting new guests, and delivering items. It felt stiff as if everyone were afraid of what might happen if they make a mistake. Menu/Food/Price: The menu and price were all wrong. They had very limited sides listed on the menu and not what you would expect from a place that sells an average steak for over $20.00. I could have gotten a better steak with better atmosphere. I was celebrating a special occasion and had to go elsewhere to spend another couple hundred dollars after leaving this place. Would like to have supported this place given they had a good bar selection. The rest is as Ms. Bloomer has stated in her assessment of this establishment and our visit. For me it was my first and last unless something drastically changes. I meet a lot of people and this is not a place I will be suggesting for that area. Loved my company though. read more

The prices are fair for the quality they provide. Just a side note- if you're not from the area and are a first timer be prepared to have all eyes on you when you walk in. Choosing to loudly broadcast a campaign style speech, or political programming of any stripe is both inappropriate and unwise. No matter who is on, you are likely to offend a good portion of your crowd. I asked in private that they not broadcast political or religious shows during dining hours. We dined here last night for the first time. We had heard about it previously, and decided to make the trip. Unfortunately it was a "bad night" to try it out. It took an hour and half to get the food to our table, and twenty minutes for drinks and menus. Usually my husband and I wouldn't have minded the time, but we had our two year old with us, who thankfully was well behaved. The waitress apologized multiple times for it being a bad night and the delay in the food arrival. The food was ok. Nothing spectacular. And I'm not sure I will go back to spend 70$ on "ok" tasting food. We had the New York strip and my husband paid 5$ extra for the surf and turf which included three shrimp. We asked for bread, which was never brought and our sons fries didn't come out with our meal. We asked for them and when they came they were so hot he couldn't eat them for ten more min. I was at the tavern the other day with my husband and it wasn't a very pleasant experience. The food was very bland and our orders were wrong. I don't feel it was the fault of the waitress. She even read our orders back to be sure they were correct. I ordered the same thing I've ordered in the past, and it was nowhere near as good as it was in the past. We also ordered dessert and it wasn't as good as I expected it would be. The waitress (I believe her name was Brittany) was very pleasant and very apologetic about our orders being wrong and was willing to promptly fix it. I give her 5 stars, but not the experience. One of the other waitresses(I believe her name is Kelly) was very rude to Brittany, which made things awkward. Props to Brittany for handling things with professionalism and diligence. As far as the rest of my experience goes, I believe I will eat elsewhere. read more

Had lunch at Tavern 125 today, June 22. I want to compliment our server Brittany. She is a wonderful server. She is always pleasant and doesn't hesitate to get what you need. She checks back often and really takes care of her customers. I overheard her mention today that she had a terrible headache. I wouldn't have known that had I not heard it. It didn't affect her job or her demeanor in any way. She had a smile on her face the entire time she served us. We've had Brittany before and it's always the same wonderful experience. The food was very good today as well but this review is more about the service. Will be going back and hope to have Brittany again. read more
