My experience in this studio superseded my greatest expectations, yet I would prefer you go to this studio to personally make an intelligent and an independent educated consideration based on your real first hand experience - not my review and experience. There is a powerful energetic exchange between a tattoo artist and the client getting tattooed by the tattoo artist. So, it is a very powerful and life changing experience. One should practice careful discernment before selecting a tattoo artist, because the tattoo artist's energy, ART, and being will always be on a person forever unless that tattoo is removed or covered up with another tattoo. You want your tattoo to be connected with an artist you resonate with energetically and to be executed the way you want it. The Clarksville area has many talented tattoo artists from different tattoo studios to select for one's tattoo experience. I want all of these tattoo artists and studios to succeed and create wonderful experiences like Charlie did for us. I believe in sharing the wealth & acknowledgment of such talented artists AND creative freedom, wisdom, & independent choice in tattoo clients. Yet the only tattoo studio and artist I was drawn to was Dark Raine Tattoo Studio and Charlie. The final decision was based on my husband. If he didn't click with Charlie, we were prepared to walk away despite my insight, our time, and the arrangements I made for his consultation. Luckily, they were a professional match, and work began efficiently & immediately on the first day of meeting. This review is 100% genuine and based on superlative professional client interactions and epic tattoo workmanship of Charlie (not preferences and friendships) with the staff of Dark Raine Tattoo Studio. I am just a client not a friend giving credit where it is due. My husband was the client getting tattooed, and we paid the tattoo artist & studio owner the FULL price she quoted - in cash. We had limited cash but we wanted to pay her a FAIR & SATISFACTORY PRICE for her work and were willing to pay 100% in cash on the first day based on blind trust. Tattooing is a very invasive art form on human flesh that deserves more appreciation in the art world. I rarely trust or feel safe around people but I trusted her immediately the first day I talked to her; even though, I did not know her and had no rationale whatsoever to trust her with my loved one's skin to place permanent art and her energy forever. ***Charlie has a rare gift to make one feel safe and establish trust in her immediately. *** I knew intuitively that she was very talented, professional, and would be the perfect tattoo artist for my husband - with nothing else to go on except some past positive reviews about her and photos of her work. In fact, I was encouraged to dislike & dismiss her by others. I always replied back that I don't care what other people think and say. I judge people based on their treatment of me and my personal experience with them. The eagle tattoo Charlie created on my husband was beyond our expectations and devastatingly beautiful perfection. She never took breaks unless my husband requested a cigarette or bathroom break. Her work performance, vitality, and endurance were very impressive. She stood on her feet tattooing for a total of 15 hours (2 days work) with little rest. She even refused repeatedly to take a cash tip from us, but we insisted and gave it to her. If anything, her exemplary workmanship and professionalism was beyond our satisfaction and high expectations. Her tattoo demanded a higher price than what she quoted us. I would have given her an additional $1,000 in cash IF I had an astronomical and consistent cash flow to show our appreciation and gratitude to Charlie's superb craftsmanship. We were also impressed when she chose to accommodate us and work on a day that she was scheduled in advance to have off (but she sacrificed that day to complete the tattoo). After I placed my review about Dark Raine Tattoo Studio based on this personal experience I witnessed first hand, my review was attacked as being fake or none genuine by anonymous people online. I, also, got some negative and inappropriate feedback from people for months. I saw such responses as a reflection of who these people are and just dismissed their claims.

I've had two pieces done here (so far), a small elbow piece that was basically copy/paste (as requested, and executed flawlessly, black only) and a masterpiece on my thigh derived from just a few song lyrics (full color). It took over 20hrs for my thigh because he really does believe in delivering excellence, and sometimes that may mean coming back for a beauty pass (free, by the way) to get things just right. He knows you're making a life long commitment when you choose him as an artist and will do what it takes to make sure you're thrilled with your new piece. I'd also say he has a gentle touch. Tattoos hurt, duh, but he makes sure it doesn't hurt more than it needs to. They also have a really cool recovery process that keeps your stuff looking sharp and heals up in about a week. They're also a great bunch to chill with while you're there, and it's always cool to see the other clients coming and going to see what they're working on (and it's all pretty dope). I plan to bring my husband here for some work, and definitely will be back for any of my future ink needs. Nevermore is high quality at a MORE than fair price. I'm going to speak on my most recent visit here on 6/29, and I should have learned my lesson the first time. Initially, I went the day before my appointment to book of course and I ORIGINALLY asked for Dizzy and got told he was busy, and after showing the picture of what I wanted if there was anyone else at the shop who could actually get me close to the design as possible and expressed how important it was for me. The receptionist told me how hard it would be to do the tattoo and then finally recommended the artist Joey the following day at 11:30, telling me that he could actually get the job done so I book it. Feeling confident in his word, I show up the following day, and speak to Joey face to face - explaining to him that I would like to have the design as close as possible to the original and he reassured me that he could do it. Perfect. This is when my first issue started. 1.) The receptionist who booked my appointment did not communicate to me that Joey had 3 appointments around the same day/time. I showed up to the shop at 11:30 as instructed and didn't get seen until almost 4 in the afternoon because he had about 3 clients booked ahead of me. Still - this wasn't my first tattoo experience, so I understood that things could get busy and decided to give them a chance and wait it out. I was hopeful and excited so I kept my mouth shut and was patient. 2 ) The tattoo came out HORRIBLE - after all that waiting. I am no artist, and I understand that this is not my profession, and it can be difficult with certain pieces. Clearly, this is not my area of expertise, so I wouldn't understand all the intricacies of it. BUT - as a paying customer and someone who expects a professional to actually take the time to do good, quality work with something so permanent - it's definitely safe to say that I am highly disappointed with that they did to me. The design is not even the same. Look at the sword on my neck compared to the original photo - it's a bent sword. There's no details in the entire piece, no shading or actual solid lines, the font for the numbers is ugly, it was definitely a RUSH job after dealing with all his previous customers and I believe at that point he stopped caring and wanted another person out the door. What upsets me the most though is if he was not entirely proficient or comfortable to recreate that design then he should of SAID that in the beginning. If you're an artist or a professional, no body but you should know entirely how proficient you are with your work. Difficult or not, it blows my mind how they're quick to have you pay and wait for hours but not take the time to communicate properly and suggest that you get better work done somewhere else by a BETTER artist who could get the job done and deliver what the customer really wants. I will never go back here again, and it's a shame because I know the owner is a veteran and I wanted to continue to support his business as a fellow vet myself. Now I have to find someone else who can possibly redo this tattoo to get it better. Go to No Egrets if you're trying to get more detailed, smaller pieces done.
